'Bill Clinton' Talks Megan Fox, His Secret Tapes, And Monica Lewinsky On 'Weekend Update' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/25/09 05:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:10 PM ET

Darrell Hammond reprized his role as Bill Clinton last night on SNL's "Weekend Update." He sat down with host Seth Meyers to discuss the Clinton Tapes, a series of secret interviews the president did while in office that have now been edited into a book. Of course, SNL got their hands on the "original" audio, most of which was recorded in a strip club.

While the Clinton routine has been overdone for the past, say, decade, it was still pretty damn funny... and that's what SNL should be.

I remember in th 70s & 80s when SNL was the coolest and most hilarious show on tv. Unfortunately it hasn't been for quite some time. They are still doing way too overdone Clinton bashing like they are in a timewarp. Time to get new material or close up shop. Boring.

I agree, it's time for everyone to let go of the Clinton error and stop using the same old tired jokes. There are plenty of current affairs to be made fun of with Ensign, Sanford & Vitter on the right. They at least happened in recent history.

Bill Clinton was presdient of the United States, had his affair in the Oval Office, lied under oath about it, had volumes research written about it, and got impeached. Those other scandals pale in comparison. One large part of the Clinton legacy will be late night jokes. Just try mentioning Bill Clinton and the word "cigar" in the same sentence and count the seconds before someones cracks a joke.

There's a paradox though... although the right wing is populated with plenty of amazingly venal characters... they are also unrelentingly GREY!!!! These guys don't lend themselves to fame or imagination. Clinton was famous world over... a compelling personality ... his political ideology was seen as one of expansion and largesse. Now look at Vitter.. Coburn... Jindahl... Sanford... when you think of any one of them you have NO problem thinking of them as the guy in accounting who reams you out because you've used too many bic pens that months. Sure you can lampoon them but nobody KNOWS them and nobody cares to know them. It's the left's signature problem re: messaging!!! The right wing media and communications are all about SHAPING the debate and DEFINING the opposition.. dry stuff that.. but get guys like Roger Ailes or Andy Breitbart who also get the tabloid aspect of plumping up your targets by attaching the salacious hook to them. The right wing covers Democrats like they are Lindsay Lohan... attractive but flawed... whereas the left covers Republicans like Amy Winehouse repulsive and oh did you know she uses a C street crackhouse?

Good skit. I remember when SNL used to poke fun at current Presidents. I guess those days are gone (at least until after 2012).

That's because he received it from a female. Something the repubs wouldn't know about.
