Some of these paranoid conspiracies been endorsed by Republican officials or prominent media figures; others only percolate on the internet. See a full overview here -- and vote for which ones are merely dubious and which ones are truly insane.

Internment Camps

One of the most infamous Census conspiracy theories was spread by Rep. Michele Bachmann -- that the census would lay the groundwork for World War II-style internment camps.

I'm ashamed that she represents my district in the state of Minnesota. She should resign and go lay by her dish.

It's time to lay charges with many of them Ïncitement'/ conspiracy to kill. Yes, Senators, governors, rednecks, white-supremists, anti-government predators and murder for financial gain....re; lobbyist's and Senators campaign and 'deals'for murder. Whether they meant it to go this far, it was inevitable with the Palin's, Cheney's, Rove's, Bachman's, Pawlenty's, Crist's, Kyl's, and so many more. They are indirectly involved.

How many of us felt this was evently going to happen? We all felt murder by conservative white supremist and anti-government Senators would evently cause the rhetoric to the nutcases promoting violence and murder. We all felt that as Democrats I'm sure', and now we have a man slain while performing his 'job', DEAD.

So tell me Republicans, since you all are promoting this, inciting this....how is that Democracy in America for this fellow, his family, friends, co-workers and all American's and Foreigners who see this as totalitarionism, as with the Cheney/Bush Presidency.

Michelle Bachmann seeks to legislate women back into the 16th century. Does she realize that the women she rails against are the ones who stood up for themselves enough to even be able to vote? Does she realize she would never have seen office if not for "liberal women"?

She advocates the lash in the name of the Holy Bible, written by men, demanded by men, and suffered by women. I don't want to go back to the days where I feel like I'm suffering, silent and shut down, and Michelle Bachmann can go to hell for capitalizing on pretending like she could, either.

What's so amazing regarding the GOP fear of the evil Obama empire and the"FEMA" camp implications, is that they fail to remember that they're all mostly built by Kellogg, a former division of Haliburton. And all the laws passes to circumvent the protections of the Constitution, thank the Bush administration.

When I first started following the criminal activities of the Bush administration, I kept telling my GOP "friends" that didn't have a problem with any of the above , "there'll be a day that democrats will be the ones with all the authority and you all will not remember that these dangerous precedents were set by your GOP poseter child for ignorance, greed and incompetence".

The fact that it was an African American Democrat that fulfilled my prophecy, priceless. Though I totally disagree with all these "new powers" and they scared me from jump, in a realistic way, I can step back and appreciate the delicious irony. Whenever I used to bring these same worries up, though not with as much "crazy" I recall the ridicule and total denial of the existance of the over reach and ESPECIALLY the denial of the F.E.M.A. camps. And now all of a sudden they believe? For 235yrs the census has had a purpose for govt function and fund allocation, now they're are terrified? I think there's some abbrasive gopers that owe me an apology "wink-wink"

In the mean time, I don't like saying "I told you so" but... lol

Beat your chest, beat your wife, then beat your daughters. That's how you can feel superior to women.

I think that districts that do not want to be counted should be allowed to pass. They just won't count for reapportionment.

"Census conspiracy theories floating since the beginning of the Obama Administration"...

and how long have we had a US Census? It was one of the first official acts of the US Government. In fact, the first English Settlement in Jamestown conducted a census.
Are these people so brainwashed that they can't think straight, or are they really stupid enough to believe this stuff? Wouldn't you think they would want to see some evidence that census takers have been given these new powers? Of course that could spoil a perfectly good conspiracy theory.

Who cares? I just want to stop counting them, in the Census and in elections. It doesn't really matter to me what motivates them to harm the nation, the only important fact is that IS the effect of their actions. Or maybe we can get them all to move to southern states, and let the fools secede.

You want to see just how insane things are getting? The Houston Chronicle reports that police have not yet determined whether the death of the Kentucky census taker was homicide, suicide, or accident. I s**t you not.

Yet Network entertainment programs and National news magazines are featuring them and giving them mainstream credibility, all for ratings. They should be more responsible.

These people should be held responsible if someone or some people listened to them and then killed this worker. He was looking for a teaching job and took this just to fill in. He is a man who just graduated college, has a family and is trying to earn a living. He didn't deserve this, and if human life dosen't mean anything to the far right, then they shouldn't complain about abortions. That makes them hypocrits. If this was in fact a issue of his stumbling across some drug users or dealers then this is a horrible crime. However, seeing he was found in this condition, it does sound like a hate crime.
