Chicago 2016: Join The Movement And Bring The Gold Home!

President Obama and his wife Michelle are headed to Denmark this week to pitch the International Olympics Committee to bring the Summer Olympics to Chicago in 2016. From the Associated Press:

Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president, told The Associated Press Monday morning that Obama will leave Thursday and join his wife, Michelle, in Copenhagen, where they'll make the pitch to the International Olympic Committee. Obama would be the first U.S. president to actually appeal in person to the International Olympic Committee for an Olympics event.

It will be the first time a sitting President has personally lobbied the IOC. The White House clearly believes that bringing the Olympics back to the U.S. for the first time since 1996 would be a great victory for the administration and also a boon to the domestic economy. (Something tells me security firms won't be doing too poorly either.)

If you want to aid in the effort to bring the Olympics back to the States, here's what Chicago2016.org asks you to do:

Donate to the cause. Every donation goes directly to supporting endeavors to either woo the IOC or prepare Chicago for the games in eight years.
Volunteer your time. Whatever your political leanings, bringing the Olympics to the U.S. can be a fundamental source of pride for all Americans.
