What's Your Reaction?

During the premiere of Fox's "Family Guy" last night the show imagined what it would look like if the characters were all transported into the wonderful world of Disney. Everyone became much happier and skipped along "gaily," as Stewie put it, and there is a very pleasant song about pie.

However, this being a "Family Guy" episode, it doesn't work out well in the end.

I saw the season premier yesterday and I thought the new family guy was a work of art.
Does anybody know if the segment that is made to look like Disney cartoon is actually drawn by Disney... more >>

Cute, but even though being written by manatees it's still really awful.

Here are the lyrics, if anyone cares:

It's a wonderful day for pie!
You can ask all the birds in the sky!
And they'll tell you real sweet,
With a musical tweet,
It's a wonderful day for pie!

For pie! (x4)

It's a wonderful day for pie!
And it smells a lot better than I!
Everyone in the house,
And this Adam West Mouse,
The bees making honey,
This Tom Tucker bunny,
We all sing with glee,
'Cause we all agree,
It's a wonderful wonderful day for pie!

I love how Meg was portrayed as a octopus. Lol, that was so funny.

For those of you without children or any other reason to be indoctrinated in Disney lore: the octopus was Ursula, the villainess from The Little Mermaid.

Ignoring all of the talk about politics, etc., that others have engaged in... I know that the animation is done offshore (I think McFarlane mentioned South Korea once), but they not only nailed the Disney animation style, but they also do a great job with Hanna-Barbera (Flintstones, Jetsons) as well... they'v done HB seveal timds and nail it each time.

That, plus "It's a Wonderful Day for Pie" is a new classic :-)

Hi mjb5406,

Only the final cleanup was done in Korea. The actual animation was done here in LA at Mainstreet Pictures . How do I know ? I did it =)

I'll leave the historical debate and the writing critique to others. The animators NAILED IT! Great work.

This is definitely one of the best Family Guy episodes ever. Now, there weren't only random flashbacks, but also randam alternative universes. The manatees wrote a fantastic episode this time. I wonder if they got a separate tank for alternative universes? Like, are the balls in the flashback tank different than the ones in the alternative universe tank?

Has anyone else noticed the Simpsons started to slide when they lost narrative and regressed into constant self parody? They started around their 12 season, Family guy started this in their 4th.

This episode was so good and yes Disney was built by a Nazi supporter.

Charles Lindbergh was also a Nazi supporter. In fact he had at least two secret families in Germany including several children--he considered himself an Aryan and found a couple of "superior" blond/blue eyed women to breed with. This was recently proven with DNA testing during a legal battle regarding his estate.

Our post-WW2 perspective makes it difficult to imagine, but in the late 30's there was a significant pro-Nazi anti-British isolationist movement in the US (the memory of WW 1 was still fresh). It started to weaken with the invasion of Poland and completely fell apart with Germany's support of Japan after Pearl Harbor.

Maybe this was over my head, didn't understand the significance of JEWWWWWSSS and Disney? Please elaborate.

Before the US was involved in WW2, Walt Disney was a vocal Nazi supporter, Charlie Chaplin, Prescott Bush, Henry Ford and a bunch other high profile people. After war was declared they changed their tune. Well Prescott did not apparently.

Charle Chaplin was EXTREMELY ANTI-Nazi

He was ostracized for refusing to shake hands with Nazi diplomats at a Hollywood reception in the mid-1930s

Please try to get your facts straight before you malign anyone else!

Walt Disney was rumored to be an anti-semite.

I miss the Boondocks. I wish they make new episodes. The late Sat. nite Adult Swim episodes are reruns.

They are working on season three now.... Don't know when it will air though... It's been very low-key.

Family Guy has become much more political over the past few seasons. Some episodes border on offensive. If you enjoy watching Seth's ideological rants in animated form, then you'll probably enjoy the show.

It was inventive, but not very funny. The show has lost its comedic edge.
