What's Your Reaction?
Ray Lahood

The Atlantic :

I mentioned on Friday that I'd gone to see Ray LaHood, the Secretary of Transportation. LaHood, as you probably know, was a Republican congressman from Illinois before he was Obama's transportation secretary, and he's a bona fide Republican--he took over the seat once held by House Minority Leader Bob Michel, which includes Peoria. I asked LaHood about health care and he told me that every Cabinet member has been enlisted in selling the package and that he thinks that in the end as many as 10 House Republicans might support the final passage of a bill.

I was raised Republican. Back in the day when they cleaned the rivers, fixed the roads, and left you alone. I'm now preparing to leave the Democratic party. Fools, clowns, and gutless leaders. How bad can the RNC be, at least they are passionately wrong.

Every Republican in Congress COULD vote for a healthcare bill. None WILL. They're trying to keep their base from leaving. Cowardly Republicans. Stop compromising away our future cowardly Democrats, cowardly President. Compromising without a real purpose except to make it look as though you're being bi-partisan for your own political future, using the real lives of dying people as political collateral. Sickening. The whole stinking lot of you. Shame. Have you no shame? Every single one of them knows a system similar to (with minor variations) the French is probably the best. God forbid we follow the lead of the surrender monkeys on anything.

Cao almost assuredly will. He absolutely has to moderate or he has no chance for re-election in his district.

there are the rich and the greedy rich. the greedy rich crowd around the working class body, watching for any movement. if there is no movement their eyes gleam and their mouths open wide and they begin to stuff themselves. any hint of movement and they scurry away into the dark. hiding behind lies and their paid for slaves/lobbyists, congressmen/women senators and president. don't worry wretched rats there's no real movement just the hint of one.

Well, actually there could easily be more than 10 Republicans who would support a bill, and that includes all of Congress. It just depends on what the Dems are willing to cave in on.

I've really been impressed with Lahood, he's gone all in with Obama without playing games like his GOP friends. Gates too.

This country really need to get some leverage on our legislators.
If they work for us why do they act like they are the boss?
Especially when it come to doing what they are elected to do. How about sessions don't end until the work is done. None of this recess and stalling.
How many of you reading this could do your job with as much leeway and still have a job?

I see as many as 10 House Republicans being called to the carpet by party leader CaptianOxynontin to explain their "treasonous" behavior.

I hope that nobody is naming names because before you know it, checks will fly from health care industry lobbyists with those names printed on them.

"I returned to the Holiday Inn — where they have a swimming pool and air-conditioned rooms — to consider the paradox of a nation that has given so much to those who preach the glories of rugged individualism from the security of countless corporate sinecures, and so little to that diminishing band of yesterday's refugees who still practice it, day by day, in a tough, rootless and sometimes witless style that most of us have long since been weaned away from.
