Mayor Cory Booker Puts Conan O'Brien On Newark Airport's "No Fly List" (VIDEO)

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is putting Conan O'Brien on notice: slights to Newark will not be tolerated. Conan joked last week that Booker was setting up a program to improve the health of his city's residents - "the health care program would consist of a bus ticket out of Newark."

After Booker touts the accomplishments and great traits of Newark, he brings down the hammer: "I'm also mayor of the city with one of the largest airports in the United States... I'm officially putting you on the Newark New jersey Airport No Fly List. Try JFK buddy."

Mayor Cory Booker is the one of the best things that has happen to Newark and the state of New Jersey. It clearly was a joke. The pocket protector kids on here don't know how to take a joke. Mayor Booker is one of the Nicest guys around. This guys has come into a city that was corrupt for day one and is trying to turn it around. The last mayor is in prison where he belongs. Find out who this guys is before you start pointing fingers.

Newark stole that Airport Land from Elizabeth City. Then later Elizabeth went bankrupt. Thats where the nineteen guys with the box cutters got a free pass and everyone knows what happened next.
Maybe the bad vibes knocked Connan on his head this weak.
It seems the Mayer saw the publicity Palin got from Letterman and he wants some of it.

Booker is an ignoramus, starting in this case with the fact that the "Newark Airport" is not in Newark. It is in Elizabeth, NJ. Look it up.

This is the problem with the internet. Sometimes it is hard to tell sarcasm. To all the people "outraged" by this, you do realize that the Mayor was joking, right? I can't tell if some of these posts are jokes or not.

Also, Newark Airport is in Newark and, if I am not mistaken, on the Elizabeth border. It has a Newark zip code.

Uh, yes I know it's a joke, and I am not at all outraged.

But, respectfully, the geography isn't as simple as you suggest. A lot of locals will tell you that the airport is in Elizabeth. All of the "Airport Hotels" are in Elizabeth, including those that are adjacent to the terminals. My printed maps from when I lived in Jersey show the airport in Elizabeth, and while internet maps tend to show cities as one dot or star, instead of showing the borders, it is clear enough even from Mapquest that half of the airport is in Union County, whereas Newark is in Essex County.

And, as was already said, the airport is controlled by the Port Authority, so New York has more say over it than Newark does. Not to mention that airport security is largely federal.

But as we've agreed, it's a joke.

What does bug me a bit is that other Newark mayors have screamed their outrage at "Newark jokes," to get publicity and political points, all without actually changing the fact that, in reality, Newark is still a hell hole. And that part is not a joke.
