Alan Grayson: Republicans Want Sick People To Die Quickly (VIDEO)

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) took to the House floor last night to give his take on the Republican health care plan: Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly.

After saying he was inspired to read the Republican health care plan by the paper-waving GOP lawmakers at Obama's recent address, Grayson summed up his findings with a few simple pieces of posterboard. "The Republican health care plan: don't get sick," he said. But, he added,"The Republicans have a back up plan in case you do get sick ... This is what the Republicans want you to do. If you get sick America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly!"

House Republicans called on Grayson to apologize; he did not. They quickly jumped on the remark, declaring deep offense.

"That is about the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor, and I, for one, don't appreciate it," said Rep. Jimmy Duncan (R-Tenn.).

"It's fully appropriate that the gentleman return to the floor and apologize," said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, another Tennessee Republican.

If these Republicans wanted to put Representative Grayson in his place for exposing their plan for what it really is, then they should change their plan and prove Grayson wrong! If they wanted to do that, then they need to stop siding with the insurance industry, stop attending these fake, corporate-funded astroturf protests and start doing what they were elected to do by working for their constituents!

We need to identify people like Alan in every congressional district in the country before the 2010 elections and beg them to run against the Fake Dems in power! We need to find new candidates to challenge the blue dog dems in the senate. Probably every candidate in the house and senate should have a progressive challenger to keep them in line. These new candidates must resist the urge to take money from Corp. America. If even a few candidates win without Corp. money others will consider doing it. There are other ways to support candidates than the TV adds we hate anyway.

Amen Grayson, I gave him 25 bucks in appreciation even though he's on the opposite side of the country from my district. Finally SOMEONE other then Bernie Sanders speaking truth to power.
