What's Your Reaction?
Jon Stewart

There are so many complex problems facing Americans these days that we should all be thankful to Sean Hannity for boiling them down to their simplest, if nonsensical, forms. Love farmers? Kill fish. Love farmers? Hate president. What could be easier?

Among many other causes Hannity has taken up since Obama took office, Sean is deeply upset that the White House is ignoring his call to wipe out a species of fish by raising water levels in order to combat a drought hurting farmers. When challenged by a representative of the Federation of Fisherman, who warned that killing these fish will in turn destroy the salmon population, Hannity's crowd booed. Good thing he had comedian Paul Rodriguez at his side to lend an air of credibility to the broadcast.

Jon Stewart spent almost a third of his show last night mocking Hannity for his ignorance of the food chain and of the historic laws that created reservoirs for these farmers in the first place.

So somebody explain to me why millions of people listen to uneducated pundits like Rush Limbaugh (dropped out of college after one year), Glenn Beck (never went to college at all), and Sean Hannity (another drop out).

This government lost integrity long before the last few presidential
terms. A Republic is a messy piece of business. At the hands of
average politicians it loses money. Our politicians are average.
Does anybody really think that these men can control a juggernaut of
legislation, a reactionary nanny state (because of managing
criminality), or the bad lawyer habits that have been the prevailing
wind for over 200 hundred years? Bitch pleeeeeezzzzz.

Blame the President. It's easy, all you have to say is; "Insert Name"
SUCKS! Any idiot walking knows that phrase.

One side always blaming the other. They've got the chips, it's their
poker table and they're the house. And it costs us money.

Why is it that nobodies bitching about the FICA for not being paid
back by Congress. They borrow from it every year; what's that all
about, huh?

How come nobody is talking about; why it is that the National CAFR is
not included in the budget as a true offset to spending? Two sets of
books; what's up with that?

The cable news channels should be regarded as what they are; a vaudeville act.

Sellouts who ARE obnoxious. They all went to the same colleges. They
puke forth misinformation like bubble-headed bleach-blonds.

Well don't buy into any of it...on either side. Unless of course you
want to surrender your reason. Then, by all means...go to sleep.

Dig it youngers. They were successful at putting your parents to
sleep. Now there's you..

Hannity owes his soul [sole] to the ones who pay him the most. I believe this 'cause how does one take the positions he embraces unless there is a monetary value tied to it? Otherwise, he has been brainwashed by a subversive GOP faction we know nothing about, yet. Hannity is too un-informed to voice these half truths on his own.

All you have to do is substitute your congressperson's name in the place of Hannity's, and you have the same truth.

I think Mr. Liebowitz has forgotten he is suppose to be the host of a fake news show. His attacks on anything conservative that moves, is very interesting. In my humble opinion, he should step down, and join the GE network, God knows they could use him right now. He is lying to his impresionable audience every night about being a comedian. He has become the joke. This can all be traced back to the night he ambushed Jim Cramer.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:04 PM on 10/02/2009

Jim Cramer suffered a melt down during this interview...where were you?

First, the truth must really hurt. I mean, you aren't even trying to deny that what he said is incorrect. Instead, you are complaining that he's being too much like a real journalist.

Second, you do understand that the whole point of the Daily Show was to critique the news media through satire and ridicule right? If you want ridicule, you just saw it. If you want irony, its that the comedian does better journalism than journalists.

PS, they still do plenty of utterly silly things.

I am a resident of HURON, CA and to see the desperation of the families, it is heart breaking, especially when you can't help much. All you can do is get the word out and hope that the "pumps are turned on" so that farmers may continue their farming and continue feeding their families. Also, providing US (residents of the USA) with food.

I ASK EVERYONE WHO COMES TO READ THIS TO SPREAD THE WORD. THIS IS NOT AN ANIMAL WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE THESE ARE CHILDRENS' MOUTHS AND EDUCATION. FAMILIES LIKE YOU AND I. GET THE WORD OUT AND HELP THIS CAUSE.

Lily05. Maybe this is God's way of saying you shouldn't be farming there in the first place??? Move where there are natural supplies of water - makes sense doesn't it?

It is heartbreaking.
Maybe that New York boy Sean Hannity will give you a loan,
Instead of begging for government hand outs all the time.

This is not a good situation for farmers in Huron, which is an historic farming town--employing about 15,000 migrant workers at harvest.
But Hannity's 'involvement' is a twisted joke. What a disgusting opportunist. Lowlife ambulance chaser. Left you all behind when he swooped in to get his 'scoop' and swooped out again, didn't he. You got to watch the back of the donkey 'cuz they kick you on the way out.

Why is so much attention and credence give to what Stewert or Hannity or Beck or Coulter have to say on their broadcasts, books, speeches and apperances? What elective office did they ever hold? Multi billion dollar business run? Military decisions made? Pulitzers prizes won? Why aren't there more actual dialogues ,forums, interviews, town meetings, TV debates, et al with ELECTED OFFICIALS? Fox News and their in your face, one note screamers don't make policy, pass laws, etc. The above "commentators" exist to devise controversy, seek turmoil, embrace chaos.....this enables them to provide "solutions"..and a reason for them to pontificate and endlessly attack Obama....to get ratings..money...and .ATTENTION! Wake up America!

I would rather hear from the comedians than the elected officials. At least then their nonsense is amusing. Well, at least Maher and Stewart's is.

Okay look........."if" that specific water was absolutely needed for the farmers in exchange for the lives of fish.......then to me, THAT"S a no brainer......you save the farmers. Anyone who chooses fish over human beings is an idiot. Especially when most of us EAT fish. But I don't think it is necessary to go that direction right now and there are other sources of water the Farmers can use. But "if" it was the last option................sorry fishies, my fellow humans come first.

Considering that without that specific fish we will see the Pacific Salmon rates drop, and then people will be less able to eat fish.......

Seems to me that when you boil it down, it's not a matter of saving the farmers vs fish--it's a matter of farmers vs FISHERMEN.

There is no such thing as "God's way of saying." All of that is simply something made up in one's head when they can't explain some situation. It's ignorance.

First off, Hannity knows about as much about water policy and its history in the West as the average tick.

Second, the pumps he's talking about were turned back on in late June. They're located in Tracy and send water from the southern end of the San Joaquin Delta to an area of the Central Valley known as the Western Lands, near Fresno. That's a small portion of the Valley's growing area and the water supply.

Of course, if run off from all those farms, most of them owned by large growers and corporations, wasn't polluting the San Joaquin Delta, then the smelt, and therefore salmon, wouldn't have been endangered to begin with.

Stop watering down the conversation with all of your "facts" and "rational arguments." When did that ever solve anything? What we need is some good ol' fashioned American hollerin an yellin. May the loudest, most obnoxious group win.

It takes no brains (good for Hannity) to tell Central Valley farmers they should have water for crops. During a drought, they'd be, yes, happy for water. And they don't, no, care about fish. That's not their livelihood.

On the other hand--does Hannity know ANYTHING about the water-wars here in California? Since--as Stewart points out--the entire center of the state is desert without water imported from wet parts of the state (mountain snow), and there is a HUGE disparity in water availability from North to South in the state, water is a long-time political minefield in California.
It is far more a state issue than a federal one. If they want to yell at anyone, they could choose to yell at our Republican governor. But really that's no business of some loudmouth from New York.
Members of my own family are Central Valley farmers. Grandstanding doesn't help them. I suggest that Hannity--if he's so concerned about Californians--meet with California's Pelosi and Feinstein, or try blaming Schwarzenegger, and see what they tell him.
Butt out, you buffoon, is the most likely.

Food chain? Ecology? Evolution? Whoa, Hannity. You are way over your head so it's not surprising that not going to college does show you up when you tackle the big issues.
