Significant Majority Thinks Afghanistan Will Be Another Vietnam: Poll

A new poll from Rasmussen Reports found that a significant majority of Americans believe that the country's war in Afghanistan "will be another Vietnam."

Thirty-eight percent of those polled indicated that they are "very concerned" that "Afghanistan will become another Vietnam," while an additional 28% said that they are "somewhat concerned" with the potential for this outcome. Rasmussen's findings suggest that only 25% of the country is "not very concerned" or "not at all concerned" that the Afghan War will culminate in a Vietnam-like scenario.

President Obama will meet today with his national security team to discuss U.S. strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Prominent figures set to attend the meeting include Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and Gen. Stanley McChrystal, among other important decision-makers.
