Austan Goolsbee Calls Sarah Palin A Wingnut In Comedy Routine (VIDEO)

White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee won first prize in the 16th annual "D.C.'s Funniest Celebrity" contest last night. In his performance he spoke about the Obama administration's goals and recent battles filled with biting, funny asides such as: "I've talked to some of the leading CEOs at banks, and I do think that they learned some important lessons from what just happened...Like spend your bonus quickly."

Goolsbee hit all the usual topics: health care reform, the 2012 election, and naturally, Sarah Palin.

"There's a lot of governors..." Goolsbee mused. "There's obviously Sarah Palin (wingnut) from Alaska, who's the former Governor (quitter) and you just cannot rule out that by 2012 (there may be a warrant for her arrest)...That she will be the nominee."

In closing, Goolsbee cautioned the audience, "Have some sympathy for the unemployed because, when Rahm Emanuel sees my comments from this evening, I am going to be one of them."

Goolsbee beat out Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher, US News and World Report's Anna Mulrine, Americans for Tax Reform's Grover Norquist, TWT's Richard Miniter, WDCA-TV's Count Gore De Vol, Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash), Rep. Jackie Speier, Chef Geoff and Examiner's Mark Tapscott for the top prize.

When you're advising the leader of the free world on economic issues, I don't imagine stand-up comedy is going to be your focus. But good for him for having the creative diversion...NOW GET BACK TO WORK!

For an economic adviser, he's actually pretty funny. Not overly awkward, though a bit wordy at times, but an excellent routine for a guy who's not a professional comedian.

I laughed my arse off. Remember, sometimes you need to listen to the message,and not focus on the delivery. Are we so superficial, that we critique a view point and reduce it to delivery, and miss the message entirely? Then is it possible that you fell for the corporate media conditional message of what is supposed to be actually important. Jeeze! It's a guy who is a member of the the current Adm. I for one found it refreshing. So why all the of the superficial critiques of delivery? It's the message! Preconceived notions really do hinder reality, even at the Improv.. So listen to the message, not the conditioned look of what has become nothing more than....looks, delivery, attire,staging etc...., etc. all media related entities.
Separate the crap from the message because my view is that , It's really about the the message .
