The same people that say Obama can only conduct business from the Oval Office also said for years that Bush could do it whacking brush on his ranch for 2 months out of the year.

Contrary to RIConservatives idiotic assertions, the King-Mayor Daley sabotaged the bid by making disparaging comments about Rio during the bid process. This is a major NO NO amongst the IOC voting committee. And, as usual with conservatives, our president is damned if he does (praise the USA) and damned if he doesn't (world apology tour ring a bell in Rhode Island?).

Yet another embarrassing failure for the Boy-King Obama. Maybe next time he will realize that he represents the people of the United States, not himself. If he wants to pay back all his corrupt Chi-Town buddies he shouldn't use the Office of the President to do so. Chicago? Really? Barrack you really believe that Chicago was our best chance????? Ugh....

Not sure why this was removed, but I will try again. Pres. Obama did no more for the U.S. than the King of Spain and the Crown Prince of Japan did for their nations. Are they also losers, or is that just reserved for our President? Pres. Obama's efforts have less to do with Chicago, and more to do with the United States as a whole. I believe he would have made the same effort on the behalf of any U.S. city that was in the running. I'm not sure why Pres. Obama is being given the credit/blame for Chicago being in the running. It's not as though he made the decision that made Chicago the U.S. city. I guess it doesn't much matter what the facts or reality are, if your only agenda is to blame the President for every perceived wrong in the world.

I'm happy that Rio got the Games. It's about time a South American nation hosted. I do have some questions over whether Rio has sufficient infrastructure to pull it off; but I hope that they do. As for the person who pointed at the Mexico Games in 1968, Mexico is not in South America. South of the United States of America doesn't make it South America.

Well, they gave it to the one city of the four which has a much worse crime and corruption problem than Chicago.

As it turns out, this was all about how much cash was promised to the committee (as per usual).

I was hoping that Chicago would get the nod but I know it was going to be an uphill battle. I believe the Olympics committee still remember the USA lead boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Remember? USA boycott the Moscow olympic to protest the Russian involvement in the war in Afghanistan?. Great!. Now USA is involved in the same war against the same enemy. How ironic.
