Chris Rock Compares Roman Polanski To OJ Simpson (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/2/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Now that everyone from Sharon Tate's sister to Governor Schwarzenegger has weighed in on Roman Polanski's arrest, Chris Rock is having his say.

On 'The Jay Leno Show' Thursday night, Rock made the fair if hilarious point that even the most sensational trial in recent memory didn't go places that some Polanski supporters are headed.

"People are defending Roman Polanski because he made good movies 30 years ago?" he said. "Are you kidding me? Even Johnny Cochran didn't have the nerve to go, 'Well did you see OJ play against New England?'"

Chris Rock has his own past of affairs while married (apologizing publicly for it)and now stealing somebody's else movie idea. Agree...it is not the same but people who live in glass house shouldn't throw stones.

I can't count how many times I 've been in a serious conversation and thought of a good point only to realize it came from a Chris Rock bit. He's one of those rare comedians that make you think and laugh at the same time. Here's some of my favs-

CR on health care- When's the last time we ever cured anything? polio? reason why we don't cure diseases anymore is because there's no money in the cure, the money is in the treatment.

CR on gun control- We don't need gun control, we need bullet control. I bet if a bullet cost $5k there wouldn't be so many innocent bystanders getting shot in drive bys.

CR on taxes- You don't pay taxes, they take taxes.

CR on voting- They don't want you to vote, if they did we woudn't vote on a Tuesday. In November. Ever have a party on a tuesday? No, because nobody would come.

Chris is the man.

bratcat you are so correct on this. I was in my grad class tonight and the other students were dying when I quoted CR's point about Polanski. Those other gems are favorites too. Rock is an astute observer of American culture.

Lack of gray matter. He is not funny! He is a plagiarist and a bad actor!

That was a great analogy. Would have been nice to hear a discussion about Michael Jackson and how many people ignored the child molestation.

It is kind of infuriating that Michael Vick went to prison for fighting dogs but Polanski shouldn't face justice for drugging and raping a 13 year old human child? It's so ridiculous.

it does not matter if he made a "good " movie 20 min. ago; he's a fugitive who did what he did, was caught, and should advance whatever legal argument and/or serve his time; personally, I would prefer to see him in the g.p. in Chino

For all the people who signed the petition. I've had a pretty rough life. I want to get your daughter high and bum bang her. Ok? Let's pass the thirteen year olds around. It's game on time right. But we start with your kids.

Please explain to me what the point is...because I don't get it. You committed a crime and then fled from justice. Why shouldn't he be subject to the same laws as everyone else?

Maybe we should let Casey Anthony go free too?

Sure when Polanski was 42, he drugged, raped, and sodomized a 13 year old girl, but he's made three great movies. I could see bringing Polanski to justice if he was a mailman, or janitor, or if his movies were bad, but his movies are good, so he should get a pass so he can keep skiing, and drinking champagne. . Why be successful if you can't get away with things like raping a 13 year old?

If you rape a girl and go to jail, it's your fault that you weren't successful or artistic enough, and you have to take responsibility. That's what keeps me on the straight and narrow. Everytime I think about committing a robbery, murder, or raping someone, I do a reality check, and realize I'm not successful enough to get away with it. . Once I get some money, or fame all you unsuspecting victims better watch out. Being unsuccessful is a powerful deterrent to crime.

That's only fair.

You got it dude; I been sayin' all along this is a "class "matter; they wanna fry Phillip Garrido and Eliz. Smart's kidnappers; (now, they will say, but THAT's DIFFERENT-----they kidnapped; Roman's perversion merely caused him to give qualuudes and champagne to a 13 year old------- (and, Chris R.----thank you-----funny comment)

As a descendant of an holocaust victim whom was locked into a concentration camp by Hitler's army (that was bankrolled by the Rothschild family and other Jewish families that bankroll wars today) I can feel the pain of Polanski.

The Anti Semitism of this world is quite outrageous!!People seem to stop reading their bibles. We are the chosen people!!!
