Todd Palin Resigns

Todd Palin has quit his oil field job on the North Slope, the AP reports:

Todd Palin's resignation as a production operator for oil giant BP PLC comes almost two months after his wife stepped down as Alaska governor and shortly before the release of her highly anticipated memoir.

BP spokesman Steve Rinehart says Todd Palin's resignation was effective Sept. 18.

Meghan Stapleton, Sarah Palin's personal spokeswoman, says Todd Palin hopes to return to his union job and for now is spending time with his family.

Like his wife's surprising resignation, this appears to be a change of plans. From an interview last July:

Todd Palin did say that Alaska would remain their home base and indicated that, despite the millions that may come their way after his wife leaves office, he had no plan to give up his blue-collar jobs.

"I'll always be a fisherman, I'll probably always be out working on the slope," he said, alluding to his oilfields job in the state's far-northern tier.

Maybe Todd did not quit... did he have to go back to high school to get his GED?

You know how those Palins are... they try to get into the program without a diploma or GED.

How stupid are these two? It's the worst economy since the Great Depression and they both quit their jobs. Can we sell Alaska and make some money?

Maybe Todd can go on the lecture circuit with his wife, and/or write his own book with a ghost writer. At least quitting his job gives someone else an opportunity to work. Read ; What exactly does "going rogue mean anyway" at, http:newsy1.wordpress.com

Do you think Todd resigned so that he can manage Sarah like he did when she was governor? She looks lost without him...

The bigger they (think) are the harder they fall.

It is a STUPID time to quit a job.

She probably wanted to get the book out quickly to counter Levi's tell-all in Vanity Fair.

I believe the publisher wanted that book out because every time she opens her mouth she is proved wrong and people jump on her with two feet and the publisher is afraid that the longer the book is not on the market the worst it gets for her and they need to strike while she still has a flicker of life left.

As far as Palin goes, she has a short shelf life. You can only keep people intrigued for so long. Hiding behind face book and tweeting can only last so long. People have been wondering for a long time why she has not made her way to the Sunday news shows (not fox). As far as speeches goes, she is only reading the words written by someone else and she only answers prescreened questions.

I'm sure the first dude and his contractor buddies will be building a nice new home at the lake soon! what ever happened to the INVESTIGATIONS into improprieties regarding the builders of the Wasilla Sports complex and the lying/quitting/ethically challenged politician (palin) who changed the regulations to hid e the paperwork from the public. and what about her affair with Todd's business partner? Quitters never win...but apparently some of them will get paid for not writing their own memoirs! Palin ran for the money and ditced the people who elected her as fast as she could run in her red fu#k me pumps!

It's the blatant hypocrisy that folks are responding to.

1) He said he'd always do this kind of work.. Now he has quit.

2) His wife made quite a number of disparaging comments about people who aren't, according to her, real Americans, and now, she's a media star and her husband is an unemployed goofball living off his wife's media fortune. How very elitist and special of them.

None of these things would be a problem but for the fact that she and her husband engaged in a national campaign to drum up hatred and resentment for people who live the lifestyle that they are now pursuing. They are not "mainstreet" Americans anymore. It's a pity they've convinced so many other people that the way to respond to people like them (as they now are) is to resent and demonize them.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I suggest that you go back and take a look at her nomination speech at the Republican convention from last summer. They have brought this all deliciously upon themselves through their petty and spiteful ways.

You've nailed it. All they ever wanted was to get rich. I doubt if we'll hear very much from her ,or Todd, again.

i'm no Palin fan...but puh-lease...he's not an elected official. there is no shame in him quitting. if any of you hit the jackpot (via wife or lottery or whatever), you may consider leaving your job as well.

How many lottery winners keep going to work...and they don't even neccesesarily love their jobs. Todd is a liar just like his money grubbing grizzly wife.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:03 AM on 10/06/2009

Wow..that's some pretty strong anger. Did she personally dis you or something? Todd has never been proven a "liar" on anything. He quit his job working for BP...which by the way exports oil..so maybe he is a hypocrite, maybe he isn't. Some would say he should have quit while she was governor. Some might hypothesize that there is a scandal brewing and he quit before the heat came on...but I doubt it. He's pretty non-descript as far as Alaskans go. She's the one we don't like. We could kind of care less if her family is offended by how we feel about her..but how many can say they know much about Todd at all? The one article featuring him involved the reporter being forced to simply observe a day in the life of Todd..which involved canned soup and a sandwich and dealing with kids etc. Sure it was staged, sort of..but the article did bring up the fact that he wasn't that happy with his work and wanted more time to do other things. Now, he can. Heck, wouldn't you if you could? Hypocrite or no, he's got a right to quit one of three jobs I think..especially since his wife just made seven million...geesh cut the guy some slack. Calling him a liar over this seems a bit harsh. Now her on the other hand..it's been proven..she does quite often actually

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:36 AM on 10/09/2009

He's not a public figure in his head..he's Sarah Palin's husband..or she's his wife..and he is a dad, and he is a "slope worker" etc. By the way, it says that he is keeping the fishing gig and the "slope" work...so he's not completely retiring or anything. I think he actually likes those jobs as he can work with his hands. I've always respected him a little bit because he does stick up for his wife..it would be wrong if he didn't. I've also always respected the fact that he simply has kept his mouth shut on a lot of things. Seems Sarah could learn from him. But, it's not likely to happen as she's not the most observant one after all. I don't blame him for quitting one of his three jobs...he doesn't NEED three jobs. Why not quit if he can afford to? I got no love for Sarah myself..think she's loony for the most part..but if a publisher hands my husband seven million or whatever million you can bet on the fact that I'd be hitting the bricks from my job in a heartbeat!!
