Jim Carrey Fattens Up (PHOTOS)

Jim Carrey appears to be taking his role in the "Three Stooges" seriously, visibly fattening up as planned for his role as Curly. He was out in LA Thursday night with a round face partially obscured by a new beard and glasses.

Back in April his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy told Ellen Degeneres that Carrey was beginning to pack on the pounds.

"He's going to gain 50 pounds to play Curly. He's just having so much fun with it," Jenny told Ellen.

"I have no idea what it's going to be like when he hits near 300 pounds. But, you know, he's in his comedy. He works hard at it."

Jim is one of the best comedians of our time. He is such a versatile, smart, hard-working actor that still stands out. There are a lot of great comedians out there now but few have the range that Jim has. Can't wait to see the new movie...just hope the huge weight gain doesn't cause any serious health problems.

You could not have paid me to sit through 'Dumb and Dumber'. I was stuck on a casino bus and HAD to watch it. I laughed until I cried. "Our birds heads are falling off!" I have been a fan of the Farrelly (sp?) brothers ever since. Kingpin is one of my all time favorites. "How's life?" "Taking forever". I always thought Jim was underrated as an actor because he started out as a comic. Hollywood will never give him his due in dramatic roles. He should stop begging them to take him seriously. Until then, they won't.

luved him in Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind w/ Kate Winslet. That movie is one of my favorite luv stories, funny and sci-fi.

My respect for Jim Carey, which was admittedly very low, sky rocketed when I saw him in ESSM. His acting is 180 degrees different from all his "goofy" roles, and I think he is a much better dramatic actor than comedic one. Anyway, ESSM is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

Jim benefits from the Robin Williams Syndrome when playing dramatic roles: you get used to seeing the happy-go-lucky clown, and when the clown gets his heart broken, it's not just sad, it's unbearably tragic. Had Jim never been a comedy actor, I doubt he would be so effective as a dramatic one. That said, I think ESSM is one nearly perfect movie either way.
