Don't be fooled by this "study"! Underneath all the hoopla, this is just a another PR stunt by WalMart to use in their argument's before the Court of Public Opinion that they really haven't been discriminating women in the workplace. Really they love women, they even commissioned a study for by and about women. See!!! WalMart where we love women, really!!! Where at least half the junk we sell is designed to appeal directly to women. especially poor, young, mothers.

Perhaps if women also played a bigger role in government we wouldn't be in the mess we're in either!

Now if we can only figure out how to get dry cleaners and hair salons to charge the same fees for woman as for men for doing our laundry and cutting our hair!

This article sounds about right especially looking at how Palin getting herself a $7 million book deal.

LOL, so business owned by one of the only two genders can make a huge amount of money? Surprise! No seriously, they did a study on this? Whats next, a study to see if men can run businesses that make huge revenue?

Is it really that surprising that women can run businesses well?

If women had been running this country since day one we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now.

And wars would be nonexistent.

And everyone would get a kitten whenever they did a good deed. *roles eyes*

People are people, as a community we all face the same problems, and thats not going to change no matter if its a man or a woman making the decision.

Margaret Thatcher took England to war against the Falkland Islands and more than a few woman voted for the war in Iraq, and Condoleezza Rice was a very avid supporter if I recall.

I agree that moving toward a more matriarchal societal orientation is desirable.

Large chunks of time during British Imperialism were guided by Queens.

Stop being so naive

I'm sorry was there anyone saying that businesses run by women don't make any profits?

what a pointless "study."

Next up, studies show that restaurants that have more tables are able to seat more people

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:35 PM on 10/03/2009

Well I believe restaurants with more seats also have more dirty plates to wash

Of course, it seems pointless, it was led by Wal-Mart. The point was not the study but to show that Wal-Mart doesn't discriminate against women, they sponsor a non-profit group that is devoted to women in the business. And coincidently they just happen to have this huge lawsuit currently threading its way through the Court system that says they discriminate against women in their business.

Profits aren't bad......execs taking exorbitant wages, bonuses, and stock options are problematic when a company is laying off half their work force....isn't it??? And anyway...are these businesses really owned by women or does the paperwork represent female ownership to receive minority status? I know a few businesses around here have switched ownership to women in name only to take advantage of government contracts and the like. Just asking...because I have no idea.

Actually execs taking exorbitant wages, huge bonuses and pile s of stock options should be problematic whether the business is making money or not. It should matter whether the gender of the owner is male or female or the company is making huge profits or no profits. In Moore's new film he shows a bread company in San Francisco that is owned by all the workers and everyone gets the same wages and the workers in that company make over $70,000 a year including the CEO! And this is a bread bakery. In another example there was a small architectural firm where all workers actually own a share of the business and all share the profits equally and the that firm did over $15 million dollars in business last year. Now if all businesses were run like that there would be a different approach to business in this country. They would be seen as an opportunity not an enemy and people might feel more energized to be owners rather than employess which is just another name for the exploited peasant.

My sentiments exactly. They needed a study to figure this out?

Wait, I'm confused now, I thought profits were bad. Or are they good if women are doing it?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:05 PM on 10/03/2009

Profits made by rewarding incompetance and using illegal means are bad.
