US always have two rules when it come to International matters. One for themselves and one for the rest of the World.

of course it is America's fault. We are an evil, terrible nation. There I feel a lot better for having a daily allotment of self loathing and self flagillation.

Did you miss the Bush presidency or something? You know, the guy who unsigned the treaty and told managers to remove references to climate change from official publications, overruling the climate scientists who were writing the actual papers and reports?

Pot calling the Kettle black. Would be funny if it were not so tragic.

Everyone needs to act, unilaterally if that's all they can do. US citizenship has become laughing stock of the world, uneducated, greedy, ineffectual, angry and well armed, but unthinking, uncaring and uncivilized, and disrespectful. Chinese populace was there before us though, and only now has grown an upper class worthy of respect. Yet, neither country has the where-with-all to admit their parts in the problem and do something on their own to solve it. Neither country respects its middle class. Point fingers. That'll fix things.

Idiots.

Greenhouse gases take decades to get into the upper atmosphere and do their work. Most of China's emissions haven't arrived yet. What's affecting us today is the carbon emitted in the middle of last century, when the US was the world's leading emitter.

The Industrial revolution came to england, germany, and the US first. These nations have had a century and a half head start on China. Given that it is the total amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere that matters, not the annual rate of new emissions, the fact is that the US and Europe were responsible for the lion's share of the greenhouse gases in circulation. It will take China and long, long time catch up.

The Chinese are also taking the problem a lot more seriously, and have begun to invest huge amounts of money and resources in greenhouse gas and emissions reduction technologies.

Decades ago no one knew that global warming would be a problem. It was assumed we were headed for an ice age. We are all in this together, man. Don't think the finger pointing will help.

It's amusing how you provide absolutely no hard evidence to back up what you say. China is one of the greatest polluters in the world. You claim it's investing large sums of money into green technologies, but then conveniently ignore its voracious appetite for coal. According to the New York Times, 9 coal miners on average died every day in China last year -- clearly, the demand for this unclean energy source remains high. Moreover, the World Bank reports (China Quick Facts) that "China has 20 of the world's 30 most polluted cities, largely due to high coal use and motorization" while the state-run newspaper China Daily states that "lakes, rivers and the air in many places in China are still polluted, some seriously, in spite of continuous efforts to control pollution" and that "the general situation of environmental pollution does not allow us to be optimistic." It's amusing how arrogant and misinformed you are at the same time.
