WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has refused to hear an anti-abortion's group request to force a state to issue "Choose Life" license plates.

The high court on Monday left in place a federal appeals court ruling that state officials were within their rights in trying to keep viewpoints on abortion off of Illinois license plates. Choose Life Illinois, Inc. sued to force the state to issue the plates.

When this pro-life nonsense rears its head here in Australia the sensible people reply with "get your rosaries off my ovaries", which sums it all up really!

They needed the Supreme Court to tell them this? I know these people are dim but I've met dogs that were smart enough to do the contemplation involved here.

The opposite of "Choose Life" (a sham presented as pro adoption but all know is actually anti-abortion) is actually "Plan Parenthood" (light purple with dark purple letter-P). It would be presented as support for funding pre-natal and neo-natal care for the underprivileged and voluntary parental authorized sexual education materials (to make every child a wanted child). In my state such plates require first a vote of legislature (ha! will never happen), then a petition to certify a certain number of unit sales (again, liberals are not single-issue k00ks), finally regular annual sales levels. After watching abortion clinics burned down, people sh0t in church while supporters praise the sh00ter, fake pictures of bl00dy fetuses on 20 x 20 foot flatboard trucks, protesters screaming with blowhorns and having rosaries and prayer vigils; it is easy to see how such sheer terr0rism against political speech would prevent many supporters from displaying a "Plan Parenthood" license plate.

No state should have any kind of vanity plates at all. No political statements belong on car license plates. That's what bumper stickers are for. That means no mottos, or logs etc. State name, color and expiration stickers only.

I live in Michigan and as I drove through South Carolina I was appalled to see these anti-abortion license plates. I couldn't believe the state was endorsing political statements.

Interesting enough, Illinois' neighbor Indiana does issue Choose Life plates, we see them now and again in the northwest (close to Chicago) region, but they are more popular downstate I think...

Drooling Rightwingers want to "say" adopt ..

The Drooler's PRETEND all kids are adopted at birth ... WRONG ...

Droolers ignore the fact that orphanages are overcrowded AND UNDER FUNDED.

Also, Droolers want to DEFUND all programs that benefits orphaned kids: DEFUND SCHIP, Education, Libraries, Educational Grants to colleges, and many other programs.

I am so glad I will not see these pro life plates in my home state!

I am a pro choicer in Florida. I think "choosing" life is just fine. I also think knowing that keeping a pregnancy that was not planned is a personal choice.

I do not have the Chose Life plate, but I don't think it is wrong to say to someone they should choose life. But in the long run, my uterus, my decision.

.... I think Illinois' position was they (the state) wanted to keep politics out of the Department of Motor Vehicle license plates .... which makes COMPLETE SENSE.

I'm glad that Illinois doesn't have to have these plates. When i was there for school I almost forgot about them until I moved back to florida. I just wish that I could have a "Choose Choice" tag, or something similarly pro-choice that isn't necessarily shoving abortion down people's throats the way the choose life plates do

Thank, christ for the first bit of sanity I've heard in a while. The religious right is thankfully losing its grip along with its mind.

Why should we "Choose Life"

So that innocent little child can be denied access to health care?

So that innocent little child can be indoctrinated into a religious faith?

So that innocent little child can be killed in wars for petroleum?

There is no "sanctity of life" where abortion is concerned

But there is a "sanctity of Freedom" were a womans reproductive rights are concerned.

Keep your religious morals in your own mind because there is no god, therefore morality is only what allows your DNA to survive long enough to produce offspring.

Chew on that a while.
