'Idol Gives Back' Returns in 2010

After a hiatus in 2009, "Idol Gives Back," American Idol's annual special benefit show, is returning for a third year.

The charity special features performances and appearances from music's biggest stars, interspersed with requests for donations from viewers during and following the show. "Idol Gives Back" is slated to air April 21, 2010, during the top 7 results show.

Proceeds from the show will aid the Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation. More than $140 million was raised in the two previous specials, which featured special guests President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey, among others.

January marks the beginning of the show's ninth season, with host Ryan Seacrest and judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.
