Limbaugh Rams

Rush Limbaugh is part of a group bidding for ownership of the St. Louis Rams football team, it has been confirmed.

Limbaugh — a native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri — first mentioned his interest in owning the NFL team this spring, and has now teamed with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts to submit a bid.

Limbaugh released the following statement to KMOX radio:

"Dave and I are part of a bid to buy the Rams, and we are continuing the process. But I can say no more because of a confidentiality clause in our agreement with Goldman Sachs. We cannot and will not talk about our partners. But if we prevail we will be the operators of the team."

The Rams franchise is not necessarily for sale but the owners have expressed an openness to receiving bids.

"There is no inevitability for the team to wind up being for sale anyway," Kevin Demoff, the Rams' executive vice president of football operations said. "There may be bidders, but that doesn't mean there will be a sale. Ownership has said all along it would go through this process and evaluate its options. They are under no pressure to sell the team."

Limbaugh had a brief stint as an NFL commentator for ESPN in 2003, but was forced to resign after controversial comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb:

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

In July, Fox's St. Louis affiliate quoted Limbaugh as saying, "It's a dream to own part or all of a National Football League team."

I do believe that he has to right to own a team, however, the NFL should hold him to the same standard as it does its players. I'm sure that there are plenty of good ole boys that have teams as well. But every time he makes a racist statement or derogatory comment about anything or anyone or if he's caught with those prescription drugs he should be fined. Just like they would do to players. They should do him like they do Mark Cuban, as soon as he opens his mouth, hit him with a fine!

you bleeding hearts are funny...

I hope he does become part owner. Just to piss all of you off..... ooo and for those experts on the Rams, I hope he fires Leonard "Manslaughter" Little for being nothing more than a high paid criminal. Killed a lady and never got time?
Lemme guess you're going to chaulk that up to him "being sorry"

Vick kills dogs; gets 2 years.
Little DUI kills a lady; gets probation.

You people... all of you nutters regardless of short, fat, tall, skinny, black, white, red or yellow, white hat, red bandanna have got your moral compass so far outta wack. The rest of us... are screwed.

Rush should be investing his money in Tea Parties and not in football. I will never watch a RAMs game, if this man owns part of the team ... this would be a nightmare ...

This will definitely ruffle some feathers on this team, with Mr.Limbaugh's past of not to friendly comments toward the African-American community there has already been talks of Players quitting the team if he gains ownership, remarks such as 'I will not be owned" have been thrown around, and conflict will be inevitable- this will bring negativity amongst other thing not only to the Rams but the NFL as well. i find it mind blowing that this man who said segregation should be re-introduced want to have ownership in a business that consists of mostly Blacks.

If this comes to fruition, I'll never watch another Rams game as long as he has anything to do with them.

I used to be a big fan of the Rams when they were in Los Angeles (during the 80's when they had the worst records in the league). When they moved to St. Louis, I wasn't happy about it, and I stopped rooting for them (in the vain hope that LA would get a replacement team by now), but I didn't root against them either. I just didn't care. However, if that BLOWHARD gets his moley meathooks onto the Rams, I will openly root for ANY team that plays the Rams! I will wish for them to drop back into the sludge they wallowed in, or worse, during the 80s. And I hope they stay there until either Rush looses enough money to give them up, or until Rush finally does us ALL the favor of dying!

I can't believe that man, who spews crap all day long, gets paid the kind of money that would allow him to buy a football team. It's a mad world.
