Flight Attendant Harassed My Teen Daughter On Facebook, Mom Claims

Jetstar, an Australian airline, has just been forced to apologize to a horrified mother who says a male flight attendant harassed her teenage daughter on Facebook.

The mom, known only as "Elizabeth," complained to the airline after the male attendant on her flight to Melbourne tried to befriend her 15-year-old daughter on Facebook just a few hours after their plane landed.

According to News.com:

Elizabeth said her daughters did not give the attendant their names but the younger one received a friendship request, followed by messages asking why she hadn't added him as a Facebook friend.

explains how the flight attendant managed to obtain the girl's information:

While it was originally believed the flight attendant accessed her daughter's details through the flight manifest, Mr Westaway [a Jetstar spokesperson] said he understood the girl's name had been obtained through a flight boarding pass.

The Jetstar spokesperson said the airline was conducting an internal investigation into the matter, and that the flight attendant has been blocked from making any additional Facebook friend requests.

"We need to get our employee's side of the story in regard to that," he said."He's a good employee, he's been with the company for over two years."

The spokesperson also noted that many Jetstar staff, the majority of whom are under 40 years-old, have Facebook accounts, and that the staff are "encouraged to have a warm approach to customers and engage with them."
