Oreilly Miller

Dennis Miller and Bill O'Reilly had a discussion about cable news on "The O'Reilly Factor" Wednesday night to mark Fox News' 13th birthday.

"Billy, I view it like a long piece of straightaway," Miller said. "Like that road betwen Barstow and Vegas. Cable news is a long straightaway."

MSNBC, Miller said, is in the left lane.

"On the left lane, MSNBC has gone completely over the shoulder, over the breastplate, over the hip, over the knee, over the bunion," he said. "They are so far out there now that quite frankly Magellan and OnStar can't locate them."

Miller compared CNN to "that old faded yellow line down the middle of the road."

"Periodically a rumble strip breaks out for the elections or the debates or something like that, but by and large, people know it, they're familiar with it," he said.

"Now on the right side — granted, Fox, I believe, is in the right lane but you still got rubber on the road. Hannity's gone off-road, and Beck — he's way down the road — but for the most part you, Cavuto, Greta, Bret, you still got rubber on the road. And I think credibility is like a baseball diamond in a cornfield: if you build it, they will come."

O'Reilly disagreed with his assessment of his fellow Fox News stars.

"I disagree with you in two ways there," O'Reilly responded. "Hannity represents the Republican party - he's a Reagan Republican, so the Republicans are going to watch Sean. And there's nothing wrong with having somebody on the air that represents the Republican party. So he's not off the rails anywhere, he's a Republican.

"Beck is successful — fabulously successful — because he's just a guy! He's not a journalist, he's a guy. The first time we've ever had a guy, OK? He doesn't pretend to be anything other than a guy who loves his country....People want to watch people that they identify with, and they identify with Beck."

Miller did praise the fact that he's allowed to poke fun at Beck on Fox News.

"Right, it's permitted!" O'Reilly said. "I poke fun at Beck!"

"If I go onto another station and poke fun at their big guy, I'd be so out of there," Miller said, and then switched gears to praising Roger Ailes.

"Roger Ailes is an absolute genius at hiring women that are so beautiful but even smarter than they are beautiful so nobody can make the accusation that he's using them strictly as objects," Miller said.

"Ailes has always been a guy who hired very smart women and very dumb men, which is how I got the job," O'Reilly responded.

Just goes to show ya....Republicans aren't funny. They don't even laugh at people like Bill Maher because they don't understand humor.

My god.....Miller is a pompous jerk. He and Jon Stewart use to be good friends....now I don't think any of Miller's old friends can stand his schtick. He became a pariah when he chose to become and ideologue instead of a satirist. Dennis.....when you sell out.....you have nothing left to sell.

Dennis Miller likes to think of himself as an intellectual and he always makes all these weird references, that i think even he gets lost in the middle of making. He's a right wing comedian which has to be hard, because they give you plenty of material to poke fun at. Also, couldn't they find a younger hipper comic? Poor Dennis Miller, he used to be on SNL when it was still funny, now he is filler material for a crackpot on a whacked out network.

You gotta love the O'Reilly quote- "Ailes has always been a guy who hired very dumb men"

I like the road analogy and used it just the other day... I think what I said is pertinent here with slight modification. Sean, like the Republicans he represents would have it the whole world is against them. Plotting to destroy them (and America too somehow, or perhaps their America as they live in it mentally as distinct from what it really is) ..... Me thinks they are too ego centric. The world is indeed going in a different direction than them. Thank all the Gods that are worshiped by the world's peoples. And I guess that the Republicans (and Fox news too) just have not figured out they got it wrong.... You know, when the whole world is pointing in the direction Obama is headed, you would think it might give Sean and the Fox some pause to at least try to think with a clear head and ask - did I miss something here? If you are on the wrong side of the road and there are huge trucks and a gazillion cars and maybe even some heavy artillery coming your way at full speed right at you (not aimed at you, just aiming at the enemy in whose path you seem to be standing), hey, maybe you are going the wrong way... The enemy are that way, not the way you are heading and if you can't help fight them, at least get out of the way...

No, Fox is in the right lane going 45 when the speed limit is 70, and the right turn blinker has been on since Victorville. The seat belt is dangling out the door, the buckle making sparks on the asphalt leading to numerous brush fires.

If the goal is to have just "a guy" then let's replace Beck with a different average guy every week. I guarantee you I can find a brighter more informed guy than the Beckster at virtually any tavern or bowling alley.

o'whyly was right for once, I copied the the thesaurus entry for republicans..

That's actually a funny punchline by O'Reilly.

Bill O'reily says that not teaching creationism in science class is "facism.' Yeah, Miller, Bill is much more reasonable than Glenn Beck. But seriously, who is more irrelevant than Dennis Miller? I can't think of a more worthless person on TV.

Dennis Miller is a "Has Been Comedian" he's afraid to go against Bill O'Reilly, other than in a joking manner cause if he did he knows O'Reilly would cut him a new "A Hole" on national TV
They both really think they are funny, the funny thing to me is Faux News claims to be "Fair & Balanced", which is the biggest lie ever spoken by a tv show, that is unless you have a big "R" next to your political name.
They should call themselves "FOOLS & LIARS"
I use to be a loyal watcher over 2 years ago until I finally found out what liar's they all really were/are, now that channel is off limits on my tv dial.
It seems that ever sinse Tim Russert passed away Faux Lies got much much worse, because Tim would set them straight in a heartbeat, he didn't care who they were, and "Howdy Doody" the new host of Tim Russerts Sunday show will NEVER fill Tim's shoes EVER!
I quit watching that show too, after Tim Russert died, may he forever Rest in Peace.

How did Miller knock Hannity & Beck? That was pretty tame.

I'll give ya Olbermann and Maddow, but what about the other 22 hours in the day?
MSNBC is not Left as Faux is Right. If only it were.
Toss Scarborough! I'm beggin' ya!

What happened to Dennis Miller?

He's such a bright guy, but did he lose his most important brain cells.

The one's that make him think?

Let him read the article about Fox and the propaganda machine that it is.

How can he leave out O'really O'reilly?

Guess he just like hearing himself talk on any platform.

You were semi-funny on SNL, and in stand up. Your acting wasn't there. So i guess the legitimate thing to do is act so insensed and go on Fox.
