Well, where would you like your next financial meltdown to originate?

It's depressing that this site's headline writers have jobs and I don't.

I was under the impression that the Arab oil money is more than not deposited in Great Britain. They like the fact that it is a constitutional monarchy.

Obama needs to carry out more reform. He needs to get things done instead of just talking and planning because his voters are becoming impatient and the robber barons are at it again.

Only a Harvard MBA could screw up our economy this much. It takes years of training and a firm understanding of complex mathematical models, to create such destruction of wealth.

What's going to remain of the U.S.? Our technology edge is gone, our manufacturing edge is gone, or education edge is gone, our financial edge is gone, even our 'moral superiority' was destroyed under Bush. We don't make anything anymore. We spent much of a generation training other countries' students as engineers and our own as money managers or lawyers. It sounds very much like the U.S. is well on the way to becoming a superfluous country.

Banks can fall by the way side for all I care

the damage they have done to us in the last hundred years is so blatant

I can not for the life of me under stand why we the people of these United States

continue to let these thieves steal from us !!!

And yet it served us well up until now and that rough patch in the 30s.

I suspect the future now lies in Asia as the torch is passed to them. We no longer care to be an economic powerhouse in the US.

I would prefer massive swings in a generally upward-trending economy to the slow, comfortable asphyxiation this declining empire suffers as its rooms fill silently with the poisonous gas of political incompetence.

The Queen, always, has been the financial World's capitol. We've been bought and sold at a very young age, through the Banking system. Our people's are indentured slaves for the Crown, via the banking system. We've been milling out corn, since ole Ben Franklin. Money laundering in Jamacia was big business in the mid 17 century. Let England claim her Bank robbers, I say good ridance. Gee! does this mean we can set up a new flourishing enterprise? Gosh does this mean we will get our industries back? Does this mean the banking lobbiest will leave Washington, and let our Congressmen be honest, free from self serving, money hungry, decisions that will benifit only them?

"The US, which had previously held the top spot, slipped to third, behind second-placed Australia."

Huh...maybe Murdoch is just a super-patriot?

lolll...be funny if he comes up with some English equivalents of Beck, Hannity, and O'Reilly to turn upon Britain and then follows his apparent policy of first encouraging rapacious, unregulated capitalism - knowing full well that the results will be unrestrained greed and corruption - and then has his boyz attempt to sow division and enmity towards their own government among the people of Britain.

And suddenly Australia is the financial capital of the world.

It would be a rerun, but funny nonetheless.

Our (the British) media is quite capable of standing up to Rupert Murdoch, which is why his son has recently been sobbing about the power of the BBC.

Thanks Republicans. You've destroyed the world greatest economy, that took hundreds of years to build, in 8 short years. How do you sleep at night?

With glee, if we were to make inference by their current anti-American comments, Obama-bashing, and especially Limbaugh's siding with the taliban.

The U.S. will continue losing clout in the financial world as long as the system continues to be secretive and fraudulent. The world doesn't trust the U.S. anymore when it comes to money. Fraudsters continue to enjoy giant bonuses from taxpayer money and fantasy accounting is legal. The dollar continues to lose value as the private Federal Reserve continues to steal from all dollar owners. I doubt the world will trust the U.S. again unless these problems are fixed.

America's post WWII rise to power was undeserved.

The Holocaust and Communist Revolution gave us thousands of scientists and engineers that advanced our knowledge exponentially. Our juxtaposition to a "big enemy" falsely inflated our economy with a military-industrial complex. The GIBill gave us a Boomer generation of well educated adults.

Now

Science is no longer funded and respected. We no longer have an enemy to falsely inflate our economy. State college prices soar leaving students in debt w/out a job. GIBill doesn't cover what it used to. Europe is producing more science papers than us. India is producing more Masters & PhDs in science/engineering than us. We are an empire slowly collapsing. Thank you Free Market and Christian Right.

US discrimination against its gay citizens encourages young educated gays to move to another country. I wonder how many have left the country since the passage of DADT and DOMA?

I hope I don,t live to regret it !

I love my country and I love her people and both are being sold off or sold out probably
both if the truth be known !!!

Oh, how is that first ever government audit of the Federal Reserve, now 97 years old, coming along and just who are the English and NY investors that both started and control the Reserve to this day?

And what the heck was England doing nationalizing their TBTF banks when the U.S. was pumping hundreds of billions of tax dollars into their TBTF banks?

Now that the U.S. Government is crippled with unrecoverable debt, maybe FIDC should have sized the TBTF banks and saved a ton of cash in the process.
