What's Your Reaction?

Lady Gaga performed at the Human Rights Campaign's 13th Annual National Dinner Saturday night, Oct. 10.

The singer performed for the gay rights group after an address by President Barack Obama.

Before making his speech, President Obama joked to the crowd "It's a privilege to open tonight for Lady Gaga. I've made it." Lady Gaga acknowledged Obama's acknowledgment and stood up to applause.

Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), was dressed conservatively. She sported dark sunglasses with round lenses and a little black dress that showed off her legs--nothing more.

Gaga is a supporter of gay rights and made her views known when she recently accepted her MTV Video Music Award. Gaga thanked her family and fans, then concluded by saying, "It's for God and the Gays!"

Ah, the HRC.......... the wanna be A-listers and hangers-on of the gay community........like in the obligatory rented summer beach house, the HRC dinner headliner is pushed aside to make way for a totally awesome, younger, newer, more appealing bit of stuff........I gotta give it to our community....we can sure make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

She is absolutely fantastic! She was to perform at a club I was at Saturday, but she decided to perform at this other club. Bahhh! At least I got to see her at the March!

Also, I don't understand why these bumptious people are purposefully visiting this page to censure her popularity. Please channel your repugnance toward something more productive.

Not censuring her popularity, just unable to discern a level of talent commensurate with the amount of adulation she receives. But as the saying goes, "There is no accounting for taste."

ditto

This is exactly what I meant when I said "bumptious people": people thinking their discernment for talent is somehow superior to others'.

I would think that a more mainstream, more popular, and more gay, artist like Joan Jett would have been better than this straight as an arrow hetero who is dating Perez was. And for those who think she has talent, my pinky has more talent.

She is absolutely incredible. You may not like her music or her style but you MUST give her props for her legitimate talent, for writing her own music and always performing it live, and her fierce advocacy for the GLBT community. Her performance at the HRC dinner was beautiful and her speech this afternoon was powerful and inspiring.

Our Lady is a role model and an incredible talent. Brava!

It's a very nice message, and a sincere performance, yet my ears are not buying the hype about Gaga's artistry. There are many good reasons on today's pop charts not to get rid of my old Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Anne Briggs, and Alison Krauss CD's. Call me old fashioned, say I'm over the hill..... but this is hardly a golden era we are living in for the emergence of great musical talent.

you so called dems are pathetic!!! LBGT types parade or protest during the most liberal president's term in the past 30 years.

it's been nine months and their shocked don't ask hasn't been repealed yet...perhaps he's been busy with the bankers are looting the country, 2 wars, trying to push through universal health care...my lord give him a chance to sort things out but NO

every interest group gives the white house door the bums rush demanding their case be heard by the emperor or else...they'll support someone else?

i think DADT should be repealed and will be. i support anyone's right to marry (which the president does not) but what change is this sort of protest meant to affect?

right wing...laughable mate just have a degree of sense. very group wants their cause addressed now like typical products of the 80's instant gratification generation. blacks had to wait over 400 years and some would say are still waiting and seems like after what 30 maybe 40 years the LGBT community have their best chance of getting most of their agenda and civil rights met and yet they protest it isn't happening fast enough.

though i appreciate the sense of urgency i can't understand to whom this protest is aimed

She's like a female version of Marilyn Manson - kinda ugly and unnecessary in the grand scheme of things...

I love Lady Gaga!! She's pretty & crazy, has a great voice & she's a New Yorker!
Most of all she supports the LGBT community, a cause she believes in.
We should all support equal rights!
