Star Jones: Roman Polanski Allowed To Rape Because He Is White

Legal expert Star Jones will discuss Roman Polanski's arrest on 'The Insider' tonight. CBS released the following statement:

Jones sounds off on director Roman Polanski, saying, "I have no sympathy for him. He's in jail. Three hots and a cot, that's what you're supposed to get. Something tells me Spike Lee would not have been allowed to chill in France for the last three decades had he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old."

She goes on to say, "Roman Polanski is very much loved by the Hollywood industry and they are out there putting petitions together... Because he [Polanksi] is white and he is rich, he was privileged."

I think Star Jones is alot smarter than she's given credit for here. For one thing, she merely mentioned that he was protected because he is White. She steered clear of his ethnicity. She knows mentioning that would be the end of her career.

I'll add a few comments on this issue. How many rap stars are out there that have committed crimes of wide ranges and simply received a slap on the wrist. The charges stem from drug offenses to weapons offenses (T.I.) and even assault and battery charges. No serious penalties, and any lay person would have been doing time. These types of injustices happen all over to superstars, athletes, politicians, and anyone with a large amount of cash. However, they all share one common factor, the color GREEN. Why do people still play the race card as a kind of crutch why someone got over on another, or got the job they wanted, or even have what someone else does not? The answer is because that individual is a racist. In fact, if people did research on slavery, where racism stems from, they would see that so many people of hundreds of countries had been slaves for far longer then others. And how many of them use a race card?? Do the jews play the race card every time they are in Germany for what happened to their ancestors? They had it far worse then I'd like to believe anyone did. No they don't, but they should. Let's put the black and white fight to rest. It's old and just past tense. If they faced eradication like the jews from the Nazi's it might be different. Bottom line here is money talks and star jones is a racist.

Shmuley went on Tom Joyner's show and berated him for not having read his book before interviewing him. The man is an egotist. I still don't know if his "friendship" with MJ was sincere.

Polanski's crime is inexcusable, but he wasn't given any pass for being white. He is a foreign citizen who's country decided to support him based on the clear evidence that his first trial was tainted by a celebrity-seeking judge intent on breaking a plea deal so that the judge looked "tough". I don't agree with certain members of Hollywood lining up behind him, but then again, not ALL of Hollywood does. I have seen plenty of celebrities (and even some very liberal ones) come out against what he did.

This idea that Hollywood thinks with one mind needs to stop.
