Their recommendation to not put meat and dairy into a compost pile is pure nonsense. I put chicken bones, deer carcasses, moldy cheese etc. in my pile. The trick is to dig a deep hole in the center of the pile and bury it. This keeps critters out of the pile and the heat in the center is much more intense causing faster decomposition.
Get two freezers power them with solar panels.
Um ... I don't even know how to say this, but every single one of these "tips" is pure common sense. I'm surprised to find that people need to be told this kind of stuff. Our parents and grandparents did this (OK, maybe not the freezer part or the blender part, if they didn't have those things).
It's sad, but there really are people who don't know anything about basic food preservation or even food hygiene. And some of the tips are oversimplified--it's easy to say "pickle it" but real pickling is a time-consuming process and if you don't pay attention to sanitary procedures, it's a good way to make yourself really sick. Freezing is a lot easier, and safer for most people. (We bought a half-size freezer a few years ago and it's one of the most useful things around the house.)
