"The United States sent a message to Egypt stating it does not support the proposed reconciliation agreement between Fatah and Hamas" --source: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1120633.html
i know Israeli media is not exactly the most reliable source for news, but if this is true, Obama has completely lost it.
This is a joke! The story says the relationship between Fatah and Hamas remains..."TOXIC"! And they're signing a unity deal ...separately.....some unity!!! LMAO!! Nothing new here..they hate each other like a mongoose and a cobra!! This signifies.............nothing..as usual! There is no reason to be optimistic !!
The animosity or toxicity is normal between rivals-- even when there is agreement to sign a deal. Signing the deal is a first step to cooperation. That is how it works.
Remember, Israel helped create Hamas in an attempt to divide the Palestinians. So far, it is still working. Your Post and spin supports this tract.
Sure, the Fatah and Israeli propaganda is spinning the story of Hamas leaders on the run during the Israeli bombing. Perhaps they did or did not. We do not really know.
But when you think about it, what do leaders do when their people are attacked? They go hiding.
GW Bush was whisked off to some undisclosed location on 9/11. Churchill went hiding during the Blitz on London.
Hiding, or protection of leaders? Depends on who tells the tale.
You can keep praying for a civil war but it is not going to happen. They may hate each other but they both know who the real enemy is.
That would be awesome. One step closer to peace, hopefully.
WHY????
WHY??? The article says the relationship between Hamas and Fatah is ..."TOXIC"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
