Here at HuffPost Green, we think organic farmers are heroes and rock stars. And nothing is sexier than someone who likes to get dirty AND supports the good food revolution. We thought we'd celebrate some of the cuties who are farming across the country and are easy on the eyes as well. Check out this slideshow, and vote for who you think is the cutest. We'll invite the winner to blog about about his or her farm.

Think we missed some totally cute farmers who deserve recognition? Send in your nominations below!

Here's how it works: hit the participate button, write the name of the farmer and a short description about the farm, and mark the location of the farm by searching for an address in the box on the top right of the map, upload your photo of the farmer and hit submit. Thank you!

How about DeLoach Vineyard's winegrower Eric Pooler? Not only is he implementing biodynamic and organic farming practices, but he bares it all for charity: http://deloachvineyards.wordpress.com/2009/08/21/skin-is-in/

It's an excellent idea to promote organic farming, but if you want real beauty it isn't on the outside. I'd like to see someone in his or her 80's who's been organic all along. SUSTAINABILITY is beautiful.

I'd love to nominate my brother in law Robelee, and his wife, Suzy, who have farmed organically in Oregon's Days Creek, for over 30 years! (they are in their 60s and look fabulous!)

I personally think that the second place girl is the prettiest one out of all of them. Sorry Mrs. Obama

I've been to organic food stores and everyone looks pale and sickly.

I don't know where you're going. I go to the non-organic stores and everyone looks like grotesque farm animals. Then I go to the organic stores and it looks like I'm in the south of France.

I'll bet you've never been in an organic food store in your life. You're just recycling teabagger trash.

With all due respect to M. Obama and those that put these things together, the White House Garden can not under any circumstances be considered organic. To be considered organic a farm has to be 5 to 7 years chemical free. And it is preferred that the system is closed with no outside inputs.

As someone that is involved in farming, it could be taken as an insult to those that are truly organically certified and are not doing it as a hobby.

And we can be pretty sure that the White House 2001-2008 was as far from organic as it's possible to get. Thanks for bringing this up!

Not quite...'certified organic' means 36 months of organic and sustainable farming--and not necessarily chemical free. Just toxin free. After all, what exactly defines a chemical? I am an organic farmer and I use oil to control the bugs that want to eat my fruit. Oil is an approved 'chemical' under the National Organic Program rules...need I go on? You wouldn't buy my pears if they had worms in them!

You missed the loveliest one:
www.mountainmeadowfarms.org/id4.html
Ms. Ostrom is beautiful, intelligent, kind in every way, and her food is stellar - eggs like gold, 32 kinds of heirloom tomatoes, chickens and turkeys that are rich and clean, and as you can see from her website, loved (we call them homeschooled). She's not just hot, she's radiant, humble, and as ALL farmers are, incredibly hard working.
What's wrong with trying as hard as humanly possible to do something to help heal us, and the earth itself, and bring thousands of people around them the finest nourishment, their finest efforts? I've worked on her farm for the last year. You don't do this to get rich, you do this to BE rich. Maybe that's what makes these folks so attractive.

The lesson here is that organic farming keeps you healthy, which is generally attractive.

That's a non-sequitur. I can be an organic farmer that eats my own produce, but might also choose to eat cheeseburgers and milkshakes. There is no definitive link between organic farming and being healthy. There might be, however, a link between organic farming and eating only your own organic food(s).

They all look like, well...organic farmer types.

A roof top garden is not a farm.

I have an organic garden I enjoy very much, but it's a lot of work. That does not make me a farmer.

Michelle Obama is NOT a farmer fer crying out loud. Neither is the young lady with a crate full of something that looks green. She may garden on that rooftop, but farmer?

FLUFF

You got your panties bunched up. Don't take it too seriously. Their trying to promote a greener life. Also, isn't a farmer someone who grows food for consumption. If that is the definition I would argue that they are farmers. Is a gardner someone who grows plants for asthetic purposes. If so, I would say that these people probably are not gardners. More like FARMERS!!!!

If you would have clicked on the link under the photo of Annie Novak http://rooftopfarms.org//), you would have seen that the "the young lady with a crate full of something that looks green" is not only a bona fide farmer but is instrumental in creating a whole new generation of farmers.

We need more organic farmers in all five boroughs of NYC in order to push out the middle class. With greedy landlords charging over $2000 a week for rent, there had better be some legumes to show for it.
