Joy Behar Asks: Isn't Janet Napolitano Gay? (VIDEO)

Monday night on her HLN show, Joy Behar hosted "Mad Men" actor Bryan Batt and columnist Dan Savage for a discussion on gay rights and the march in Washington over the weekend.

Behar mentioned that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appeared on "The View" earlier in the day, and that Napolitano explained why President Obama has "dragged his feet" on gay rights.

Savage mentioned that Napolitano had acted on behalf of immigrant widows while Congress works on repealing a law that penalizes them, but that she hasn't stepped up to protect gay rights.

"Isn't she gay?" Behar shot back.

"I've never slept with her," Savage wrote back.

"You know what, guys? Neither have I," Behar said.

Napolitano is unmarried and has said previously that she is not gay.

I watched the show that night. It sounds like Joy blurted out something someone told her. Naughty girl, Joy.

I guess Joy had loose lips that night because they were talking about gay issues involving the administration. Oops!

The question should be: WHO CARES? Why is it that people/ especially Talk Show Hosts think that is such a meaningful question...okay, they get their video linked by websites, but by and large, sexual orientation should have nothing to do with politics...except for the likes of beck who want us to think that it does...be afraid, very afraid...a gay is going to attack you!

The obvious response to beck is the story out of South Wales where some individuals attacks some crossdressers who were trained cage-fighters...so beck should be worried....as for the rest of us...not so much!

Joy is borderline smart, but is a bit smart alec . They were talking about an issue and she had to be smirky enough to make a statement about someones personal life which she knows nothing about ,. she is too old for that. This is not comedy central , she has taken up the responsibility to be the host !

did you see the show? she wasn't being smirky... the comment was relevant to the discussion. yes, she's a smart alec, because she's a comedian. i don't know if it's awesome or sad that all the best news and commentary these days is coming from comedians like joy behar, bill maher, jon stewart, and stephen colbert.

Joy Behar is opinionated and smart but not informed enough to be smart enough to be doing this. She can;t even handle the likes of E. Hasselbeck or whatever that peroxide lightweight's name is.

The question was inappropriate. Joy is sitting on the fence, is she a comedian or a newscaster or a talk show host or a political commentator? She is not good with the teleprompter and she's not comfortable with what she reading, perhaps some rehearsal would help. Perhaps she has too many irons in the fire but what she certainly doesn't have is a shred of credibility, she's on "The View" for God's sake. It's all fluff!

Everyone needs to stop being ashamed of being gay. If you want to live without fear and be gay, then you need to learn not to be ashamed of being asked this question. You should all be proud that Joy feels free to ask this question. "I can't believe you asked that" attitude is a byproduct of fear and we need to get over it.

I think she was thinking Janet Reno, AG under Bill C. She has come out as gay, and happens to be named Janet as well.

Joy does not seem the least bit happy on her show. She's not relaxed or engaging.
As for Janet, I don't think she's into anything but her work.
Once she did say she liked men, but they didn't like her.

My take is that Joy is a little bit nervous, that she wants it to be a great show so bad that she is nervous, and a little self conscious.

When I see that the show is on, I'm like, "Oh good" she is informed and is on the right side, the left.

I love Joy's show...it's a bit rough around the edges still, and the crew need to stop laughing at every punch line, though. It reminds me of a bad, local public access show when they do that...or of a amateurish local TV comedy show (even if it is beloved and hysterical­...remembe­r Soupy Sales, anyone???)

The other night, there were horrendous edits done during the show...bad cuts that should have whoever did the video editing fired on the spot...terrible!

BTW: So what if Joy thinks Janet is gay...I mean come ON, now honey...she ain't Pamela Anderson...
