LENOX, Mass. — A nonprofit consultants' report says a Shakespearean theater in Massachusetts needs to raise $2.3 million to continue operations until next year.

In the report released Tuesday, the Nonprofit Finance Fund said Shakespeare & Company in Lenox also needs to raise $8.15 million to restructure long-term debt.

Shakespeare & Company says it is creating a new business model and negotiating to restructure its debt.

Last March, the theater company laid off seven employees and shifted others to part-time roles to cut costs. Year-round employees also took 10 percent pay cuts, and its founders gave up their salaries for two months.

The 32-year-old company says it's also working to "produce more plays with less money" at its three theaters.

Many of our Congressman's wives are involved in the arts. They give LOTS of money to keep and grow the arts in our country.

I was googling for something one day and ran across this list of Who's Who in Washington's society. The list had tons of insiders and what they do for a living and what they do as far as society. It told who goes to parties and who they can't get to a party (Obama was one on the list, along with Maureen Dowd, amongst a few others). But I think if interested parties would Google "washington insiders" or "washington partygoers" or something similiar, I'm sure they'll run across this same list. In fact, there was an entire website of names/titles & pictures of these folks. Then it would simply be a matter of making connections. Chris Matthews was one of these society folks (him and his wife, Kathleen Matthews), so he knows a lot of folks into giving to the arts. Just a thought...
