What's Your Reaction?

Update: In a conference call with Democratic leaders Tuesday night, Wexler said he will become director of the Washington-based Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation.

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Florida) will resign from Congress. Wexler hasn't stated his reasons for resigning, but the Sun-Sentinel reports that he is "likely to take a public policy job that deals with the Middle East."

There has been a lot of chatter around the blogosphere about why Wexler is resigning and what he'll do next, but there is nothing conclusive yet. Wexler will give a press conference on Wednesday.

In the meantime, why not catch up on Colbert's "Better Know a District - Florida's 19th - Robert Wexler." Tagline: "Robert Wexler enjoys cocaine and the company of prostitutes because they are fun things to do."

The Democrats could run a stray cat in that district and win.

Wexler had a residency problem. He lives in Virginia and used his mothers address in Florida to claim residency.

He's intelligent and probably can't take the mass confusion of congress anymore.

Wait....hold on here.....I think I can see Hawaii from my back porch....yes, there it is.....you betcha...wink

Isn't ....like owning property in Maryland, paying taxes in Maryland,.....but thinking....thinking real hard about Florida the same as living there?

And then...when I campaign in Honolulu, with public campaign dollars, and actually win....I'll pipe up a lot in the press, get on Larry King Live all the time, promise everything, deliver nothing, get to know my collegues in Congress REALLY, REALLY WELL...flip on my Honolulu constituency, make some lame declaration about how concerned I am about Middle East peace....and then make....oh....FIVE MILLION USD per year at the Think Tank.

Can we all say HIPPOCRITE?

Right let's just completely gloss over the gross misapplication of "justice" the whole Whitewater investigation was, that ultimate led to nothing but a complete waste of time and resources trial because the President, being of course a human being and subject as all of us to human nature, had a problem with infidelity. Meanwhile President's commit war crimes and treasons and lie under oath about discrediting CIA operatives because they don't tow the party line and report information that backs you up.

Priorities man.

14 people went to jail ... including a sitting Governor and the assistant AG.

Whitewater was perhaps the most productive special prosecutor investigation in history. Clinton was also guilty (obstruction, lying to investigators, subourning perjury) ... but the Senate let it ride.

However, the main thrust of the waste of taxpayer dollars, to attach Clinton to the specific improprieties, if they can be called that, of Whitewater, was an epic fail.

Productive, does not always mean successful.

Clinton was exhonorated BEFORE the whitewater investigation; he had already been investigated and aquitted. Whitewater was a partisan witchhunt that wasted thousands upon thousands of taxpayer dollars. A HUGE WASTE. When the "right" couldn't get him on that they had to waste more taxpayer money trying to impeach him for a lie about a personal matter. A matter that NO ONE else cared about, no one but the hypocritical "party of values" that can't wait to control women's bodies.
The "right" should be embarassed by their naked need to demonize Clinton especially after eight years of bush, who did nothing but lie in order to spread fear, hatred and divisiveness.
It's embarassing at the very least

Wexler was slamming some one on Larry King one night for not telling the truth. LK said to Wexler, "Bill Clinton didn't tell the truth". Wexler's response, "well that's a different kind of truth".
Only a politician.

Great, one of the few true liberals in Congress takes a powder to "study" the Middle East situation.

Why not spend your life figuring how to turn Oreos into gold bars. It's just as productive.

How disappointing.

I grew up in New Jersey.

I live in Colorado. I love Colorado, lived here 35 years, so far.

But I would like to live in Hawaii.

So, starting tomorrow, using the Wexler Plan, I am running for the Honolulu District in 2012.

Thank you Robert Wexler, for providing for me a plan of action.

Yes, I call it the Wexler Plan.

The 19th district is indeed a solidly Democratic district. He received approximately 65% of the vote. Republican candidates do not stand much, if any, chance. Some districts are just that way.

In the 4th district (most of Jacksonville and surrounding area) in which I reside, a Democrat has little chance. Ander Crenshaw was unopposed in the general election.
