UPDATE 2: Fox Apologized

A rep for Fox tells Usmagazine.com in a statement: "Burger King Corp. [the sponsors] did not have any editorial input in the creation of the animation that ran last Sunday, and no one from Burger King Corp. approved it before it aired. Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humor was insensitive and we deeply apologize to anyone who might have been offended."

A cartoon skit airing during Fox's NFL Sunday mocked Jessica Simpson for her supposed weight gain.

Simpson, who used to date Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo, is laughed about by cartoon versions of Romo's teammates and coach.

The cartoon version of Marion Barber remarks, "Man, I still can't believe Tony dated Jessica Simpson, even after she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams!"

Cartoon Jason Witten says, "Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts!"

And coach Wade Phillips adds, "Say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!"

I am tired of all of the fat jokes attacking this woman. Jess is a normal female who has curves, she isn't a male, she is a real person with feelings, and genes that are made to have curves. The people that continue to attack her for her weight are petty and insecure. Nobody is perfect including those who insist on attacking her for her weight. She is fine as she is, so leave this woman alone. People treat her as if she is a monster or something. Damn people, look in the mirror and in your own back yards before you choose to attack someone else.As for fox, we already know what they are, and I just ignore them. But to attack someone for being not perfect are ya kidding me? There is no perfect. Its a myth created by men's fantasies. Magazines air brush photos to look perfect. Trust me, when I worked for a director, I airbrushed many a woman's image, and they were not perfect. Jess, and to other women out there who have curves, flaunt em girls, that is what they are for. I'm no fan, but this strikes me as just gratuitously mean. Women, but especially American women, are trapped between absurd ideals of what the human body should look like and an agribusiness/urban design mentality bent on making them much larger than their female counterparts in other nations.

Jessica's pop world isn't my thing, but she has never done anything to hurt anyone, as near as I can tell. Why Fox should take such glee (apart from the obvious fact that they are a bunch of troglodytes) in being cruel to someone (especially one with some recent tragedies in her life) is beyond me.

Buck up Jessica. There are plenty of men out there. Don't let these clowns get you down.
