Amidst the thousands of management tomes published every year, there are only a few truly influential collections of business wisdom. But measuring the true impact of one of the world's thought leaders can be tricky.

Thinkers 50 believes it has come up with a formula to measure the impact of the world's top business gurus. They've compiled a list of the top 50 thinkers in business based upon, among other things, originality of ideas, practicality, writing style, loyalty of followers and rigor of research.

Based on that analysis, they've come up some very interesting results. C.K. Prahlaad, the author of Fortune At the Bottom Of The Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty Through Profits, was actually deemed more influential than Steve Jobs, Richard Branson or the uber-popular Tipping Point author Malcolm Gladwell.

To see more of the rankings, check out our photos below, and vote for the world's most influential business thinker.

#1 C.K. Prahalad

C.K. Prahalad is an academic based at the University of Michigan and author of, among others, The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid.

I am not more than vaguely knowledgeable of most of the movers and shakers of ideology and action on this list. Why? Because their impact has not been for the health and well being of the American Republic. It is a fair statement that not one of them has contributed a dime's worth of ideas or action to the development and growth of the American economy.
Is their one Oriental on the list? If not, the entire list is the result of Western snobbery and hubris. The original economic drivers of the 21st Century are Chinese under the management of the Chinese Government. The Chinese are as clear minded explorers and settlers. They come, pick the best ideas of our thinkers and doers and take them home and apply them with there own best ideas. Later, they will settle scores of hubris and misuse of power.
Such lists are only good as indicators of self-delusion and decline by future historians.

Is there one Oriental? Well, at the TOP of the list is an Indian, C.K. Prahalad. Is that "Oriental" enough for you?

One thing. You got the name of Tata wrong. It's "Ratan" and not "Rantan". Cheers

economists in general shouldn't be on the list. it's not even a real science -- it's a pseudoscience.

Who put this list together?? Krugman HAHAHA! THis guy thinks you can print money can create wealth..what a joke.

WHere are all the people that said this crisis was going to happen? Guys like Peter Schiff. Ron Paul, Bob Chapman, Max Keiser..I could go on. Now some of these guys are good at what they do and I am not saying they don't deserve to be honored in their own way (except Krugman because of recent activity..remember Krugman your Keynesian nonsense theory is on the line as well as your nobel because the US government is printing money like you want) but there are a lot of people MSM never gives credit to.

Agreed. Like I was told when I was growing up: If you are so good, stop talking and start doing.
