Paul Pelosi Buys A Football Team

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Kennedy Center Honors

Paul Pelosi, husband of Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif), is now the owner of a professional football team. The famously publicity-shy spouse of the current Speaker of the House bought the California Redwoods, a San Francisco-based franchise in the upstart United Football League. Pelosi has admitted that he's not a big professional sports fan -- he prefers recreational sports befitting of a successful businessman and political spouse: golf, cycling, and tennis. Pelosi says he paid $12 million dollars for the team because he deemed it a bankable investment. As he told the Washington Post:

"This is a business, I look at it as a business. I'm in this because I think it is a very solid financial investment that is going to be very successful...I never wanted to own a sports team. It's that old saying: Never say never."

Just think of all the health care assistance that Nancy & her husband could have provided for unemployed families w/ that money...a good 'investment' to further line their own pockets w/....Oops, I forgot, the democrats do not like to spend any of their OWN money to assist the needy in this country...they instead prefer to take it from the already overtaxed middle class..............& then feel morally superior for doing it....all in the name "what's in the best interest of the country".

ya gotta love these absurdly rich easy money democrats like Feinstein and Pelosi. They get their health care paid for and then vote against the same for you and me. Vote Nader and Cindy Sheehan if she runs again

So, el puerco Limbo wanted to buy a football team, where most of the players are black. That keeps him in the news, for sure. The MSM keeps talking about him, including MSNBC, this "bastion" of liberalism. Would black players have stayed? Or the team would have become lily white? or, maybe, money would have kept them there, betraying their principles, so the rac ist chub could say; "Look at my ni__ers, how well they play", a la 1950's?

Fortunately, this is not the 1950s anymore.

We never said that all wealthy people are selfish and only looking out for their own monetary interests. There are plenty of wealthy people who put country first. It's just that none of them are pubs.

My God, she has a husband???
What goes through this little man's mind surely must amaze most good Americans.
Married to Nan must be the closest thing to mental castration.

I don't know any Liberals that don't like Pelosi. She's the best thing in Congress for Democrats to date. She has heart and a solid spine, unlike any man that has ever sat in her seat. I love her!

That little man is quite rich and successful.
If a woman like Nancy intimidates you, you must have a very low self esteem.

Do not be envious of success.

Since there's no way this deal was put together in the last few days, having this happen the same week as Limbaugh being kicked out is clearly a coincidence. But, my god, this man has wonderful timing. This makes me laugh every time I see it.

I wouldn't care if football ceased to exist as of this instant. This is an investment... and it's an old story--from February. Kind of a shame that he didn't invest in something with some intrinsic value, like solar power technology, but there's always bread in circuses.
01:17 AM on 10/18/2009
If you think he should invest in "something with some intrinsic value" then put a proposal together and pitch it to him. Oh, and make sure you pick up some cheese to go with your "wouldn't care if football ceased to exist..." whine.
03:11 AM on 10/18/2009
Rich people dont get that way by making bad investments.
