Japan's First Lady Presented 'Best Jeanist Award': "This Is The Prize I Have Long Wished To Win"

Japan's new first lady and former UFO passenger Miyuki Hatoyama was bestowed the "Best Jeanist Award" on Monday as part of Tokyo Fashion Week. The AFP reports the honor is given by the Japan Jeans Association.

Mrs. Hatoyama, who told the audience that she and her husband were wearing jeans when they met at Stanford University in 1975, was delighted:

"This is the prize I have long wished to win," Hatoyama told a press conference, wearing traditional blue jeans. "I'm a jeans lover. I'm always putting on jeans as they're easy to wear."

This isn't the first time the first lady has flirted with the fashion world. Two weeks ago, she and her husband walked in a charity fashion show where they strutted while doing jazz hands. See video here.
