Japan's First Lady Presented 'Best Jeanist Award': "This Is The Prize I Have Long Wished To Win"

Miyuki Hatoyama

Japan's new first lady and former UFO passenger Miyuki Hatoyama was bestowed the "Best Jeanist Award" on Monday as part of Tokyo Fashion Week. The AFP reports the honor is given by the Japan Jeans Association.

Mrs. Hatoyama, who told the audience that she and her husband were wearing jeans when they met at Stanford University in 1975, was delighted:

"This is the prize I have long wished to win," Hatoyama told a press conference, wearing traditional blue jeans. "I'm a jeans lover. I'm always putting on jeans as they're easy to wear."

This isn't the first time the first lady has flirted with the fashion world. Two weeks ago, she and her husband walked in a charity fashion show where they strutted while doing jazz hands. See video here.

Little wonder she won. Compared to the other jeans, she was miles above the competition. It was like a dress competition between a designer gown and something off the goodwill rack.

She's an actress who believes in UFOs and spiritual/psychic stuff. Which sounds a little too much like nancy reagan.

Mrs. Hatoyama is a very attractive lady and fun looking. She dresses well for her petite shape and size, I also love her hairstyle and makeup.

I agree. She seems easy going, accessible and (no intention of condescension) is as cute as a button. :o)

Japan's first lady is very cute and looks great in jeans. I like the fact that she met her husband at Stanford both wearing jeans. I do believe she met Michelle at the recent leaders conference in the USA earlier this month. The two are very different. Miyuki is very different from Michelle in every way and dresses much more becomingly in my opinion even in her jeans.

The Japanese First Lady is so interesting! She is fun, creative, and unafraid to break social norms. She is a breath of fresh air against what is sometimes a boring political landscape. She has said that she would love to meet Michelle Obama and I think that would be neat if the FLOTUS and the JFL could meet someday.
