Calvert

(AP) A Southern California congressman is being investigated by the FBI over an alleged inside deal to buy publicly-owned land.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports agents are probing whether Rep. Ken Calvert improperly bought land from a government agency that was earmarked for a park. State law requires surplus public land to be first offered to other public agencies before it is sold for private use.

Calvert, who represents parts of Orange and Riverside counties, is part of an investment group that wants to build mini-storage units on the site in Jurupa.

The investigation follows a 2007 grand jury probe that concluded the sale violated state laws.

Calvert says the FBI probe is part of "a desperation effort" to force him to sell the land to the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District.

Calvert's lawyer says the Republican from Corona is cooperating with agents.

Correction: Congressman Probed story
The Associated Press
Updated: 10/19/2009 02:27:32 PM PDT

SANTA ANA, Calif.—In an Oct. 17 story about an alleged improper sale of publicly owned land, The Associated Press erroneously reported that a newspaper said the FBI was investigating Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif. The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported the FBI had sought information on a lawsuit against an agency that sold land to Calvert's investment group. However, the FBI did not say if it's investigating Calvert.

"Calvert says the FBI probe is part of "a desperation effort" to force him to sell the land" but "State law requires surplus public land to be first offered to other public agencies before it is sold for private use."
Huh? does he not know his own State laws? Where exactly is the desperation effort? More of the same from our elected officials...Point the finger somewhere else while avoiding Law!

It's the"Mr. Smith goes to Washington" saga... Where are the Boy Rangers? The "Boss Machine" wanted the land for his own selfish use, Mr. Smith wanted a boys camp for all of America. History repeats and repeats ... even when it was a fiction at the beginnning. The GOP is seemingly intent on having that Grand Ol' Party while the rest of America starves, is evicted, and dies because there is no money to be made from them. God Bless America.

Every good 'ol boy in Riverside County needs to be investigated. Start at 1980 and begin filling your hard drives with Riverside County corruption.

The Building and Safety dept. had bumper stickers on their inspection trucks that read: "I Can Be Bought, But I'm Not Cheap." How cute. Right in our face.

The fed should set up a semi-permanent facility and get started.

Congressional District 44 needs a clean-out beginning with the top alimentary canal himself.

"The investigation follows a 2007 grand jury probe that concluded the sale violated state laws."

Hello?! It takes two years for the case to move from Grand Jury to the FBI?! And, isn't that the cart before the horse?! Something smells about this case or the reporting on it. If the Grand Jury found reason to indict, he should be indicted by the DA.

Mueller worked for Bush. Now he works for Obama. The Law is back on line.

Research Grover Trask, D. A. That might keep you busy a while. Start in 1980.
