Thank you Secretary Clinton and US Ambassador Rice for leading the way. I thank Mr. President for holding true to his promise of dealing with this issue in Darfur and all of Sudan. There is hard work to be done and my prayers are with you.

At first glance, this all looks promising in terms of dealing with the problem, yet it would be nice to know what the consequences are for Bashir and Co. for not holding up their end of the bargain. The sanctions must be meaningful enough to make them act, and we all know that the truth is in the details. I do believe that the CPA is vital to overall Sudanese survival; it must be extended. We should be mindful that the genocide in Darfur continues regardless of what anyone might say. The disconfiguration of Darfuri people in place of Arab's (to make it an all Arab nation) was the goal of Bashir and that remains so; as long as that is true, the Darfuri cannot return home and will continue to suffer horrible autrocities in refugee camps. The indigineous African people of Darfur continue to be the brunt of ethnic cleansing. And we cannot deny the terrorism of Sudan, which is supported by Iran and carried out many times through innnocent people forced into doing so and hopeless people looking for a purpose. Let us, along with the Europeans, Canadians and others come together to bring these sanctions. I am a firm believer that we need a multilateral approach. God help the people of Darfur. God help those who suffer under Bashir. And God help our leadership when making decisions of such magnitude.
