We like surprise endings as much as the next guy: "The Usual Suspects," "Psycho," "Fight Club"--they all rocked our world and made us thankful for being manipulated so well. Unfortunately, movie twists usually end terribly, making this feature possible. Add any others you hate to the comments section, and remember: All theses captions contain MAJOR SPOILERS.

"Orphan"

Esther the crazy orphan who terrorizes her new-found family all throughout the movie is, in fact, a 33-year-old dwarf and former prostitute. She wears a ribbon around her neck to hide the scars from her days in the asylum when she struggled in her straightjacket so much she would bleed.

Hooray for Signs making the list. Even as I watched that movie I thought... wait a minute.... WATER?

Imagine the alien meeting: "I know -- let's take over a planet where absolutely EVERYTHING is toxic to us!"

Better yet, they actually were succeeding in their scheme, somehow managing to avoid the ocean, rivers, ground water, rain, humidity, sweat, etc. until Mel tossed a glass of water on one of them.

if you would have watched "Click" you would know that it technically WASN'T a dream. Christopher Walken was the Angel of Death and after Adam Sandler died, he gave him a second chance to make the right choices. It actually was a good ending, with a kind of "It's a Wonderful Life" feel to it. Take out Click and replace it with 2001: A Space Odyssey.

"No Country for Old Men" should be included! This movie's ending totally pissed me off!

PLEASE tell me that your comment on Wahlberg's acting was facetious!

All movies good candidates for MST3K if it was still on.

It's a movie. Get over it.
But many say, in the great pantheon of the current Hollywood trash, this might be a gem.
As some say, "different strokes, for different folks."

Independence Day beats them all for the worst.

Not a movie, but the ending to the musical Wicked is very contrived. I really liked the story until the "surprise" ending. I won't ruin it for you, but those who have seen it should agree.

Another opinionated yet substanceless "article" on HuffPo. The ending to Orphan was highly imaginitive. Of course, looking back you can describe everything as "predictable".

They didn't say it was predictable, they said it was stupid.

And the ending to Orphan is pretty stupid. A 33-year old dwarf prostitute?

The ending to Orphan wasn't imaginative, it wasn't even predictable. A similar thing had already been done on Law & Order.

I recall a children's cartoon (I think it was Bugs Bunny) with the same plot device (cigar smoking bank robber that looks like an infant impersonates an infant).

The Happening and The Village are definitely high on top of my list. My husband recently came back from Blockbuster with a sell thru copy of The Happening. When I asked him why he said because he was looking for something in the bargain bin and that was the only thing that was remotely buyable. I'd have bought nothing rather than that. I feel insulted that it sits on my shelves in the middle of my DVD collection!

The Forgotten was actually a pretty good thriller until the aliens arrived. Then it bombed from there. Big disappointment.

When one bazillion dollar space machine is destroyed suddenly the rich guy shows up to reveal an identical machine has been built without anyone noticing but its so huge you can see it from space.
