Craigslist Prostitution Lawsuit Thrown Out

Craigslist won dismissal of a lawsuit filed by the sheriff of Cook County, Illinois, that accused the classified ads Web site of creating a public nuisance by providing a forum for prostitution services.

This Sheriff is wasting our resources. He tasked many people in his office to sit there and place phone calls to thousands of ad from Craiglist while posing as false customers.
They did that for two condos I placed for rent, wasting my time and energy for false appointments forty miles from my residence. I couldn't distinguish real candidate tenants from false ones. I hated all they have done to me. I am just head of household trying to take care of my investments and this Sheriff office was "bugging" me. This has to STOP.
I am glad that the judge took a decision to help them realize that this is still the land of the free & the brave!

better they are craiglists than walking the streets. while on the bus i saw women walking the streets and it was very sad.
i dont understand why police are against. if i was a vice cop, it would seem like the easiest way to round them up for prostitution.

I use craigslist.com a lot for selling/buying, roommates, formerly for employment; it never occurred to me that the site had all that other stuff going on... I guess it's a lesson that when you want something you can find it, no matter where, craigslist, the library, the club, or the AM/PM.

Of course. It was a ridiculous lawsuit to begin with. I don't like prostitution either, but I am fond of free speech: even if it's free speech soliciting prostitution.

Perhaps Mr. Dart would be happy in a place like Saudi Arabia, where there's no 1st Amendment - and the morality police decide what you can and cannot say.
