Italy Cheney

Retired General Paul Eaton, senior adviser to the National Security Network, has hit back hard at Dick Cheney a day after the former vice president criticized the Obama administration again for "dithering while America's armed forces are in danger." In a speech Wednesday night, Cheney said, "President Obama now seems afraid to make a decision, and unable to provide his commander on the ground with the troops he needs to complete his mission."

In an NSN press release, Eaton empties his chamber:

The record is clear: Dick Cheney and the Bush administration were incompetent war fighters. They ignored Afghanistan for 7 years with a crude approach to counter-insurgency warfare best illustrated by: 1. Deny it. 2. Ignore it. 3. Bomb it. While our intelligence agencies called the region the greatest threat to America, the Bush White House under-resourced our military efforts, shifted attention to Iraq, and failed to bring to justice the masterminds of September 11.

The only time Cheney and his cabal of foreign policy 'experts' have anything to say is when they feel compelled to protect this failed legacy. While President Obama is tasked with cleaning up the considerable mess they left behind, they continue to defend torture or rewrite a legacy of indifference on Afghanistan. Simply put, Mr. Cheney sees history throughout extremely myopic and partisan eyes.

Fun fact! Dick Cheney made his remarks at some sort of "Bush administration reunion" at Union Station last night. There, he received the super-prestigious "Keeper of the Flame" award and watched as beloved Bush administration felon Lewis "Scooter" Libby was honored with the "Service Before Self" award. Then, everyone had to board the Acela back to reality.

To add to the theme of incompetence that Dick Cheney has shown before lets rehash some of the incompetent Cheney has shown before. He really should not be a voice in American politics anymore.
Cheney was wrong in Iraq and he is wrong on how the Obama Administration is dealing with the war. Instead. Here are some time when he was wrong ion Iraq.

1. Cheney wrongly predicted that "My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."

2. The vice president also incorrectly said that "Iraqi oil will pay totally for the war."

3. Another VP Cheney blunder: "Saddam Hussein has been shown to have weapons of mass destruction (WMD´s)."

4. Cheney absolutely swore that; "We believe he [Saddam] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons."

5. The VP also blatantly lied when he said; "Saddam attempted to acquire yellow cake uranium from Nigeria."

6. In 2005, Cheney mistakenly said of the insurgency in Iraq, "I think they're in the
last throes [of the war].

Oh I don't know about that, give Dick a shotgun, wear Dragon body armor and walk behind him!

Another tour of duty in some Afghanistan hot spot might well be the answer to the problem!

When W said we want to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here every military strategist and tactician said "Huh?'. Anyone familiar with the Art of War by Sun Tzu knows you never want to fight them on their turf, always on the turf of your choosing, not neccesarily your own. Why? Supply lines. As the Germans famously learned at Stalingrad, the further you get away from home, the longer it takes to get those love letters from Frau Braun. So why are we fighting them over there. Becasue as John Dillinger famously quipped "That's where the oil is."

Cheeney received the "Keeper of the Flamethrower" award and watched as his beloved scapegoat recieved the "Taker of the Fall" award. The much-anticipated "Outer of Secret Agent" award was also given in private, but nobody will say who won that one.

Since there was a conflict of interest, shouldn't Halliburton and subsidiaries have been legally kept from being given no-bid contracts in Iraq? How could a corporation in which this warmonger had a financial interest be so obscenely enriched and Cheeney indirectly benefitted for the rest of his life, all as a result of the Iraq occupation which he pushed?

Keeper of the Flame? how, um, appropriate.

But if Cheney's the Keeper of the Flame, who's the "Keeper of the pitchfork" & the "Keeper of the Stench of Burning Brimstone"?

I keep pulling this quote out because it's the best summation of Cheney I've ever read:

"Cheney, one of the most incompetent vice-presidents in the country's history, with a record of two grotesquely botched wars, war crimes and a crippling debt." ~ Andrew Sullivan, The Daily Dish

eeral was wrong to call Cheney a "Warfighter" in the first place. Mr. Cheney intentionally avoided service during the war in Vietnam, every bit as effectively as his pal George W. Bush did.

It is too hard to defend the indefensible. The facts are in and they simply cannot dispute them.

Clinical paranoia is not an adviser for anything, but especially not for strategies in war planning.
