Justin Timberlake Gets Restraining Order Against Karen J. McNeil

LOS ANGELES — Justin Timberlake was granted a temporary restraining order on Friday against a woman his attorney described as an obsessed stalker, court records show.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Cunningham III granted the "SexyBack" singer the protective order against Karen J. McNeil, 48.

Timberlake's attorney, Evan Spiegel, described McNeil in court filings as a "mentally unstable celebrity stalker." The papers state McNeil was placed in protective psychiatric custody by police after she trespassed at the singer's home on Thursday.

McNeil's actions have "become much more alarming and her motivation and obsession have become more ominous, intrusive and threatening," according to the filings.

The records said it's the third time McNeil has showed up at Timberlake's home and that she may be homeless. She left a letter characterized as "bizarre" during a trip to the singer's home in June, the records show.

Attempts to find a phone number for McNeil were unsuccessful.

Cunningham will consider whether to grant a three-year restraining order at a Nov. 9 hearing.

Timberlake, 28, has won multiple Grammy Awards for songs such as "SexyBack" and "Cry Me a River." His petition for a restraining order does not seek protection for anyone else.

Beyonce & JayZ were stalked and threatened for two years. Rebecca Schaeffer (My Sister Sam) was killed at her front door. David Letterman was stalked for years by an unstable woman who broke into his house more than once. His son was the target of a kidnapping plot.

These threats are real. Have a little compassion.

In some ways it sucks to be a celebrity. They have two big problems - sycophants and stalkers.

Yet people still line up for blocks in hopes of gaining their 15 minutes of fame every week on American Idol. Our culture hard-wires us from childhood to perceive celebrity as the highest validation of our existence, and the only surefire proof of our success. How many of us would pass up the opportunity to grace the cover of each issue of our own eponymous magazine, ala Oprah? Wholeness as a person, and healthy self-esteem would be sufficient indicators of success in a less narcissistic culture, but that is not what we have here.
Similarly, many ordinary people become instant sycophants in the presence of even the washed-up celebrities they once idolized. Those who cannot achieve fame through their own merits end up glomming onto celebrities to obtain validation. Autograph hunting and bidding for memoribilia are mainstream activities. The stalkers are merely the pathological by-products of a culture which defines self-identity as something others must give you.

Well I don't think you are a "Twilight mom" A twi-mom is a mother that uses Twilight as a bonding tool, they gush over Edward Cullen and Bella and seem oblivious to just how awful the books are.

I don't understand how a mother could want her daughter to read a book series where nothing happens, and the basic premise is that for a young girl to feel fulfilled she must fall in love, get married and have babies, these books set the woman's movement back about 100 years and there are other themes such as ped0philia, stalking, mental abuse, and they glamorize depression and suicide, like nothing I have ever seen "New Moon" especially.

Oh and the last book where Edward has to use his teeth to rip open Bella's uterus to get their child out is all filled with class too!
