What's Your Reaction?

Last night ABC's Nightline aired a report on the Church of Scientology, and accusations made against the church's leader, David Miscavige, by ex-Scientologists. At one point, during an interview with the church spokesman Tommy Davis, Nightline's Martin Bashir asked him about the church's alleged secret core beliefs that have been divulged by former Scientologists. Davis took great offense to Bashir's questions, and eventually walked out in the middle of the interview, tearing off his microphone and throwing it on the floor on his way out.

Looks like it;'s time for a new spokesperson. Their last major longtime spokesman, Mike Rinder, left the cult and is speaking out Scientology.

Poor kid HAD to leave, he had a big enough a*^-whuppin' waiting for him at home as it was, why make it worse? Looks as if he's taken his share, did any one else notice that?

If I was "lucky" enough to be born into that freaky extended family I'd probably defend them past the point of reason, too. Unless they cut me off from my actual family.. who knows? Poor kid. Poor kids....

“Of course any systematic physical or sexual abuse:”All the Sea Org. abuses and physical abuses by David Miscavige: http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/scientology/scientologists-level-accusations/story?id=8792417
“As a little girl Hill said she remembers weeding for hours, "no matter how hot or how cold it was outside." http://i.abcnews.com/Nightline/story?id=4702271&page=1

“The end result is an emotional and spiritual dependency that is harmful to a person's well-being.”
Sounds like a very dangerous Cult to me, need I say more?

“A devotion to secrecy as regards beliefs and membership: Not revealing the different levels and money you have to pay the so called Church to get to those levels.”

“A belief system that is so esoteric as to be incomprehensible or so derivative as to be patently false: “Xenu brought people to earth 75 million years ago in jet planes and planted them around volcanoes is one of the more unusual tenets that have come to light”. Sounds like a science fiction novel to me!

“Financial requirements that can become onerous: “People are supposed to move closer to their true spiritual nature through extensive "audits" that seek to put them in a "Clear" state.”
Again, big bucks you have to pay to get to different levels by mind controlling methods.

“Practices or requirements that isolate members from loved ones or bar contact with anyone outside the religion: “…members are ordered to cut off all contact with family members and friends who may question their affiliation." “You'll be declared a suppressive person, and then you'll never speak to your family again," he said.”
SP’s, HELLO?

“An obsession with a particular leader who may be charismatic and authoritarian:”
David Miscavige & L. Ron Hubbard: "He got his beagle and he literally had somebody tailor a blue vest sweater for his beagle dog and made up epaulets, these Sea Org ranks in the Sea Organization." http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/scientology/scientologists-level-accusations/Story?id=8792417&page=2

Why would anyone waste their time with Scientology, when the Church of the Sub-Genius is the true way to salvation?

Hail Bob!

Scientology is not a religion - it is a money grubbing evil cult.
Your post does nothing to minimize any of the atrocious things the cult of Scientology is guilty of.

According to Webster's definition of a cult, christianity would fill the bill.

"I support anyone out there speaking against drugs."

and then

"We have in no way told or suggested or implied how Travolta should treat is sons illness."

These 2 contradict each other.

Aren't we supposed to inhabited by Thetans and Scientology gives us the clues to rid ourselves of the Thetans. Thetans by the way are an alien species.

These people have a bona fide tax exemption! From the IRS. All the money, tax-free! Oh, it would be so great if some strong politicians would take a stand and stop that...

I'm skeptical of any "religion" whose followers always seem to be bumping against the "completely blood-engorged with rage" emotion.

If just one of them would come on and be sensible and answer questions honestly and calmly, that might do a lot of good for their reputation as wacked out, money grubbing, penoheads.

Another misleading headline. The video did not show him storming off the set.
