i'm confused. or maybe i'm not. was soros talking about banks...........well yes sir,
there was the money they made.
( less the money they owed ucle sam)
equals = gross profit
(less business expenses and all those outrageous bonus and salaries)
equals = net profit.

did they miss the part about paying back uncle sam? paying back the debt before
you pay yourself............hmmm. sounds like maybe some bankers need to be fired.
put in jail............oh that's right - what they did was legal because the government
they bought and paid for didn't change the laws......... wasn't
uncle paulson generous to not set an interest rate or a payback date........and
cousin timmy has always been so kind............isn't that special.

Good for Soros. Let's hear more from Buffett and Volcker on this, too.

The hope of a rapid recovery is misplaced, says Mr. Soros.
Consider the source from whence this remark cometh, and take it seriously.

Soros once said that he would have given his entire fortune if he could have been certain Bush would not be reelected.

George Soros is one of the few rapiers of modern capitalism with a conscience, a moral compass. He sees acutely the damage of financiers-speculators-insiders-fraudsters to our democracy and to common people in most parts of the world. And he is intrepid and honorable in speaking in public for a new set of policies and procedures in setting a new course for the American Republic. His courage and leadership should be applauded and emulated by all Americans.

Absolutely. There has been many times over the years when his giving sent a message. The timing coincides with a period of uncertainty and waning interest on an important issue, and he brings it back to the forefront to give it breathing room. The latest was the development of clean power. A lovely man..deserves all the money he earns.

Georg Soros has a felony conviction in France for insider trading.
His main goal now that he has used the system he castigates to get rich is to get power.
See Wikipedia. A philanthropic heart is not what made him rich. Now he bites the hand that made him rich.

He should see it, he's one of them. The man about took down Britain and is a criminal in France. Your idea of moral compass and mine aren't the same. He's so rich and powerful he uses it to force governments to do policy he approves of. Think about how scary that would be if he were a republican. I don't think any one person should have such influence.

His currency speculations have caused hardships to millions in third world countries, and his messianic political pretensions only cover the fact he's specualting with the American dollar.

He wasn't the only one doing that and besides if not for certain people in politics and in charge of the various financial systems hadn't done certain things he wouldn't been able to do the currency speculations that got him a billion dollars in one day.

Also he has given six billion away to various NGOs that feed the people in third world countries.
