LA Times:

Africa is already home to one-third of the 42 million people worldwide uprooted by ethnic slaughter, despots and war. But experts say climate change is quietly driving Africa's displacement crisis to new heights. Ibrahim is one of an estimated 10 million people worldwide who have been driven out of their homes by rising seas, failing rain, desertification or other climate-driven factors.

Thousands of scientists have publicly spoken against the co2 theory for global warming - many are directly involved in climate science, and some have been involved with the IPCC.

Atmospheric CO2 increases because of warming, not the other way around (just like CO2 comes out of beer when it gets warm.). The CO2 theory is nothing more than that, with no scientific data to back it up. All predictions are based on climate models that rely on positive feedback dominating negative feedback. So far, these predictions have failed to match real temperature data.

To be more specific, any warming will result in increased evaporation. This increases humidity, which is the major greenhouse gas, thereby increasing temperature further. However, the models fail to allow for increased cloud formation, which acts as a barrier to solar heat, thereby reducing temperature. In this way, Earth's temperature is probably self regulating.

One major consideration - if CO2 can cause runaway warming, why hasn't it happened in the past when CO2 levels were much higher than today?

The deniers have resorted to calling any article about climate change "junk writing". We will see plenty of similar attacks on writers of this subject.

Here's a few questions for climate change deniers:

1) If you think climate change is a hoax, please provide a logical explanation why tens of thousands of scientists -- climatologists, geologists, biologists, oceanographers, physicists, archaeologists, forensic anthropologists, and so on -- support the climate change theory. What's in it for them? Really?

2) Do any of you deniers work outdoors for a living and/or depend on good old Mother Earth for your livelihood? That is, do any of you work in the field in the farming, forestry, fishing, tourism or even construction industries? Are any of you hikers or hunters or any sort of outdoorsy people at all? Have you ever eaten food that you grew yourselves?

I've asked these questions before on climate change stories and haven't gotten an answer yet.

One of the worst articles I've read. I cannot stand bad scientific claims. The issue is over population.... too many people for too few resources. Long cycle droughts are nothing new to Africa. Paleo climate studies shows droughts lasting as long as 2 CENTURIES in Africa 4 yrs is nothing.

Too many people, yes, but also lack of mobility and sometimes loss of ancient survival skills -- just like us. Your ancestors knew how to make bread from acorns. Do you?

The lack of mobility is due to borders created by governments and enforced by armies. Again too many people in an area of too few resources, and you are correct, unable to migrate with a climate cycle.

I do not deny that humans have negatively impacted the environment to the point in some areas, of long term damage. Ultimately through, it boils down to too many of us....but that really upsets alot of people.

I also agree the hunter gatherer skills have been destroyed and lost....even the small garden has gone the way of the supermarket with year round fresh veggies via stripped rainforest.

But again THIS particular article is way off.

Anyone who has viewed Gore's An Inconvenient Truth should also view the works
of Lord Christopher Monckton in order to have balance on the subject.

There is no "balance" on this subject. There is only truth or untruth.

Showing up on Glenn Beck's show does not make someone credible. Monckton has lots of opinions and no scientific background. He thinks the Chinese used to sail to the north pole and that everybody with AIDS should be rounded up and put in a version of a leper colony.

I have it on the wise and scientifically proven word of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and a few God fearin', bribe takin', bible thumpin', fire breathin' congress men and women that there ain't no such thang as global warmin'.
Global warmin' ain't nuttin' but a bunch of nonsense bein' perpetrated on the USofA by a bunch of no nuttin' college graduates what thinks their years and years of studyin' and complin' data means a damn thing.
These people are all movin' cause they don't wanna work and the govinmint ain't givin' 'em everthin they wants.

Those who will not believe the truth are bound to follow a lie.

Wait 'til all the luxury coastal homes in Florida to sink below sea level. The irony will be that most of those home owners vote Republican.

I don't know whether or not "global warming" is real. But climate change certainly is, but it's not necessarily caused by carbon emissions. Deforestation has been a major cause throughout history. Communities have also done a poor job of irrigating areas that need it the most - like sub Saharan Africa.

Hate to break it to you, but the deforestation is major factor in increase damage by carbon emissions.
Trees, shrubs, grasses, and other leafy plants convert huge quantities of Carbon Dioxide to Oxygen.
As deserts grow, and forests die much of the carbon dioxide produced is never converted and adds to the total damage of ever increasing carbon emissions.
If neither carbon emissions or deforestation are corrected or controlled, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has to increase and increase exponentially over time. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere causes a green house effect that over time will warm the planet to the point that it can no longer sustain life as we know it.
We have been warned for years of these causes and effects, and still many of us refuse to accept the truth.
Those who will not believe the truth are bound to follow a lie.

Why doesn't the headline read "Climate Change Displacing Millions"?

The first paragraph says 10 million displaced. That's a far cry from a few thousand.

And then you wonder why the warning arrives too late. Where are the Editors?

If CO2 is causing global warming as claimed then the outgoing long wave radiation should go down as CO2 goes up. That means a lower brightness temperature. See figure 3c. The models show lower brightness temperature = CO2 caused global warming. The satellite data show the opposite.

Tovarich.
Our frozen North is getting warmer; what wonderful news, our Warehouse ( Siberia ) will be more hospitable.
Longer cultivation seasons, fabulous abundance of water ( the white gold of the 21st. century ) and all-out gowth in our Warehouse.
The 21st. century is looking very, very promising for the Motherland.
We love our 11 Time Zones; plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy.

Yeah, wait till the Chinese arrive like the Mongols did in the 14th century. That was caused by drought too.

Tovarich.
In due time, China and us will be merged into one VERY, VERY large common market.
A Eurasian EU; we are thinking of calling it the EURASIAN UNION.
Asian countries from North to South, East and West would LOVE joining our EU.
Tovarich, we are not standing still in this part of the world; we have our own agenda and we are doing something about it.
This century will be the EURASIAN Century; we are all very excited about it in this part of the world.
