What's Your Reaction?

Pepsi may have received some unintentional branding boost last week when a Flint, Michigan man used a soda bottle to ward off an attacker. Pat Gillespie was unloading groceries from his car at his home on Thursday when he was approached by a man who attempted to mug him at gunpoint. But instead of emptying his pockets, Gillespie, 77, beat up his attacker -- with a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi.

Even after the gunman shot him in the groin, Gillespie kept on with his assault, and the gunman and his accomplice eventually fled.

Gillespie explained his reaction as "instinct." "I don't like people trying to take my stuff. I'm not a fighter but I don't need any b.s. from anybody," he said.

Good for two liter Pepsi business! Not so good for gun sales. Dont tell anyone it may be just as good to protect yourself with Pepsi!

When they make having 2 liter bottles a crime on only criminals will have 2 liter bottles!! Mark my words!

Beside that from the headline I thought there was video. I thought a security camera caught this. Woulda liked to see and old guy beat up someone with some pepsi!

Pat Gillespie deserves a Purple Heart for bravery in the face of the enemy.

Thankfully this turned out with the victim surviving. But the first thing a policeman will tell you is it isn't worth your life. If there were two attackers, this really could have turned out with a different outcome. I'm happy for the man, but it's never advisable to use a pepsi bottle against a gun!

What a tough old coot. Imagine kicking the ball into his yard and then asking for it back?
BOP! CRASH! BIFF!

This man needs to be arrested. How dare he try to keep what needs to be spread around to others? He can afford a luxury like Pepsi? I'll bet he had some steaks and other luxury items in his groceries as well!

All that money he earned from working his whole life is being wasted on HIM and NOT being given away to the people who really deserve it, like to the two hardworking individuals that tried to obtain what was rightfully theirs. And to top it all off, he's WHITE, which makes him a racist. Where's Obama when you need him?

I was laughing at something hilarious when I started reading your comment and your terrible attempt at sarcasm actually negated the humor of the other, funny thing.

That makes it anti-funny.

These people don't realize that the wealth had been redistributed for 8 years to 5% of the population off the backs of hard working people! But it's okay when it's being redistributed upward for them, I guess!

Oh please. Quit your "man of the people" mentality. My business took a beating during the Clinton years and the Bush years with higher taxes to increase for government spending. Social welfare programs have continued to increase without a demand for self-responsibility.

The humour was fine until race and colour was brought into it.
Obviously a big fan of Fox news.

That would be funny if the same thing hadn't been done to 95% of Americans, with the $$$$ being redistributed to 5% of the population and the wealth gap at its widest after Bushy left office, killing the middle class, creating poverty, creating record billionaires, all on the backs of the working stiff!

So -- you are using the wrong president as your example. Bushy already took from the working class and gave it to the wealthy! What you see going on now is the wealthy fighting to keep from parting with the money they stole from 95% of the American people!

Using a triumphant story like this to trumpet your irrelevant tripe is troubling and trifling.

Good thing Pepsi doesn't come in a magnum bottle.

Geezers armed with 2 liter Pepsi bottles, gotta love it. Thankfully this didn't have a tragic ending.

Good for him! He made fools of his assailants. The only thing that can make this story better if the police catch them.

If this kind of cr@p keeps up, we are going to have to carry a gun
to protect ourselves from these creeps.
Maybe if one or two of them were shot at, a few others might change
their minds if they didn't know who would be carrying a weapon.

Everybody doesn't buy 2 litre bottles...a 12 oz. can wouldn't help much
unless you had time to lift the whole carton.

Good for Pat Gillespie. People from the "old school" are disgusted with
some of this generation who get by with most of their criminal activity.

that's the problem, cooda...too many people with guns. Your solution would compound the problem 10 times over....Think about it.......

The only bad part of this story, for me, is that I have seven up stock instead of Pepsi. Drats!

The NRA immediately issued a statement condemning Pat Gillespie for violating the mugger's Second Amendment-protected right to bring a gun onto Gillespie's property.

No, it will probably be the ACLU protecting the civil rights
of these poor underprivileged wannabe criminals who probably
wouldn't work if they had a legitimate job.
