PARIS, France -- Whoever ends up presiding over Afghan chaos and corruption, Europe is losing patience fast with U.S. mission muddle and a president who won't make up his mind.

NATO defense ministers meeting last week in Slovakia backed Gen. Stanley McChrystal's strategy to strike harder, and fast, against a growing insurgency.

Europe is always whining about whatever the U.S. does. They always want the U.S. to make the most military sacrifices, but complain when it isn't done to their satisfaction.

That said, the war in Afghanistan needs to end NOW. Bring our troops home.

I am just waiting to see if the pressure is put on Canadians to stay longer. Another Canadian died today and after 8 years I still do not support this war it has been a waste of young lives. I want all the troops home.

I'm not so sure that Europe has lost patience with the war. More likely they have lost patience with Karzai and his drug lord brother and all the corruption. Karzai prances around with his cape draped over his shoulders while Kabul burns. But then what do you expect from a puppet?

1) This original column was poorly written. Each paragraph was 1-2 sentences with little cohesiveness between them.

2) The HP headline (as usual) is misleading. Their gov't is spending less money on defense and see the war as a drain on remaining resources.

3) Overall they are realizing what Americans are realizing. This war has no end, no upside, and no benefit to anyone other than defense contractors and corrupt gov't officials.

At least someone is losing their patience on the Afghan war, the American people don't know why we are there and don't care, but the US Govt just loves all the pointless never ending wars.

It's not a pointless war. The profits are enormous if you are connected.

If profits are the best justification that anyone can come up with, then yes, the occupation certainly is pointless.

If we had to pay for the war out of our wallets instead of by deficit spending, there would be great interest amongst the people and a quick end to these adventures. This is the greatest obscenity.

McChrystal has a pre-existing condition that relieves him of duty. He was the master-mind of the Pat Tillman cover-up. No respect for the troops.

There were three Anglo-Afghan wars (2 in the 19th and one in the 20th), the Russo-Afghan war, and now this mess. Enough.
