Halloween is the only time of the year that I actually pay attention to store window displays, and I'm always impressed by the offerings on...

I'm not sure what's more appalling: the orgy of chocolate candy made from cocoa beans harvested by enslaved children or the avalanche of cheap plastic pumpkin baskets and other landfill-ready Halloween accessories.

Certain things are beyond your control when you become a parent. You lose sleep, worry a lot and embrace Halloween, even if it is your least favorite holiday.

For one day a year, we are encouraged to be as violent, sexual, inane or un-PC as our little hearts desire. Even given these lax rules, there are still ways to cross the line on Halloween.

princess anouschka loves to relax and pose for the camera...as opposed to having to meet with all her subjects all day which is exhausting...she also loves the idea of the treats she gets at the end of her photo session and that makes her very happy!!!
As the creator of one of these costumes, my response to the tongue-cluckers: peh!
First, it's one day a year. Second, my dog enjoys lots of attention. And third, and most important, he gets lots of treats during the process and he loves that. He's a rescued dog and has a wonderful life of ease and pleasure.
Get a life! Take your concern someplace that matters.
I don't believe in dressing up animals, but that Angelina Jolie pug is pretty funny. Oh, Octomom, whatever. Interchangeable.
I like to call myself a "pug supremacist"... anything else is just a "dog".
These are not funny, just sad and pathetic. Please don't do this sort of thing to creatures who cannot protest.
I appreciate your point of view, but I think it's somewhat presumptuous of you to assume these dogs--our companion animals that you don't know--would protest.
From everything I can observe via their behavior, our two enjoy being fussed over and would only protest if we reduced the amount of attention they receive. (Also, our pictures were taken at and after an animal shelter fund-raiser, so I'm guessing the folks there didn't think they were unhappy either.)
...Especially Pugs... who were the lapdogs of royalty - and appear to know it on a genetic level. They want to be the center of attention - and will not hesitate to let you know if they think you have forgotten that... Best. Dogs. Ever....
These sorry sad individuals' ought/ need to get a life!
We look at these pictures and find them funny ...but these dogs don't seem to be very happy about it.
Octopug? I can't tell what it's supposed to be. Can't see it well enough.
