What's Your Reaction?
Maurice Greenburg

New York Times:

While America generally loves stories of entrepreneurs making a comeback, Mr. Greenberg's success may be at the expense of taxpayers. People who work in the industry say that if he is already luring A.I.G.'s people, he may soon be siphoning off its business and, therefore, its means to repay its debt to the government.

How do we hold wall street accountable? NO matter what Obama & his team tires to do the bankers always find a way to evade it.

as stated by http://financeopinionss.blogspot.com it is time to create economic growth that we can all benefit from; not the top 1% of earners. An equitable economy is a better one.

my god !! People just chill out.

These employees leaving AIG is a very good thing. First we know that the public demands that these employees who brought down AIG should not be paid high wages.

Secondly, if these employees were "talent" maybe I grew up with a different notion about talent. if bringing down a multi billion dollar company down to the ground needs talent, then LOL.

If you were running a company wouldnt you want your worst employees to just leave and join your competitors ?

let them leave and bring Greenberg's company to ground also.

but dont blame Greenberg for poaching on AIG employees. Employees are free to work wherever they can be hired and wherever they choose.

govt doesnt own these employees. let them leave. they are hardly some "talent".

Bogus headline. Maurice Greenberg is not breaking any law.

If you are outraged, then be outraged at our elected officials and bureaucrats who wrote laws that allow this to occur.

Greenberg was an unindicted co-conspirator in the AIG/Berkshire Hathaway General Reinsurance accounting scandals. AIG was playing accounting games by manipulating earnings through reinsurance contracts.

Greenberg wasn't indicted, but it was determined that he "did not act in good faith and directly or indirectly induced the illegal acts of" the company. In other words, he had other people take the fall for following his directions.

He was largely responsible for the AIG mess, and is now able to drop the disaster he created on the taxpayers and start new.

This goes to show you that we need to change the financial system. Somebody was to come along to game the system sooner or later be that Greenberg or not. There's too much money to be made as it stands. If it's legal to game the system and make a lot of profit, wouldn't you do it yourself?

Tax heavily the industry behaviors that are harmful to the country. There's cigarette tax for harming our health. If the financial industry continues its way, we will all starve and die well before lung cancer from smoking has a chance to do any harm.

Perhaps we need to change our corporate laws so a class of employees with extraordinary power can be personally sued for damages that they created if the creation was done for excess profit and with disregard for the well being of taxpayers and shareholders. In the short run there has to be something criminal upon which to arrest this guy....or is the amount he paid Goldman Sachs so much for his freedom that the Administration will not prosecute him. Goldman is our Treasury Department and AIG was used as a funnel for the government to direct funds to Goldman. They key to our collective financial freedom is taking down Goldman Sachs.
