Worst thing ever are those sunscreens in everything. I never believed in it and I am living proof that it is all just hype.
The number of kids deficient in Vitamin D is much higher than this actually. 95% of adults or more are deficient also. You can correct Vitamin D deficiency by being out in the sun without sunscreen or by taking vitamin supplements. 5 thousand IU's daily is what many nutritionists and doctors advise. Many doctors believe that Vitamin D is important to keeping you healthy during flu season.
Living in Canada this is a big issue here. Doctors here recommend 1000 IUs per day. 5,000 sounds very high to me , however the body will use only what it needs. Another problem is all the low and fat free products out there. The body needs some fat to help absorb the Vit. D.
I started taking Vit. D the second year I moved here. What a difference it has made.
