Beer Prices

oregonlive.com:

The hops shortage of 2007 is over, buried in a glut of unsold hops. Don't expect craft beer prices to follow -- the $5 pint and $9 six-pack are likely facts of life -- but hops prices are now so low that some Oregon and Washington growers left hops unharvested this fall.

This means that I wasted my time chasing frogs to catch their hops. Nobody will buy them since Oregon had a bumper crop of hops. I'll have to get along on the new extension of unemployment benefits since I shake too much to roll joints & sell them 1 at a time.

""We need more stimulus spending. More jobs programs. Lets pray that Obama can get it done. Millions of lower & middle class Americans are falling through the cracks. We need a bailout to help them, not the banks.""

Illegal to grow hemp here but legal to import. Insane.

The price is not going down because as the economy gets worse people drink more and more hops means less cost for them. In short it's a good time to be a major beer maker.

It's a good time to be a beer retailer. Never knew it until I got in the business; there's so much profit in alcohol it is sinful. I could afford to give the food away as long as you keep drinking.

What's interesting is, in a down economy people are drinking cheaper brews, which have a much higher profit margin. I make more money per glass on Ukrainian rotgut than good German beers.

Drink up.
