Funny, you get a list of what to expect and nothing more.

No tips on how to deal with the side effects of giving birth.

Knowing what to expect and what to do about it are 2 different things.

At the very least an explanation of why certain things are happening to your body may be very helpful.
The unknown is always a lot scarier than the known.

Same thing with menopause. Not much out there on how to deal with it. Maybe because no one wants to admit they are going through it.

This is a good point. Childbirth classes covered everything up to and through delivery. Then nothing. My Mom tells me that she brought her street clothes to the hospital when she had my older sister, having no idea she wouldn't fit into them after giving birth - in 1959. (Sorry, Shelly! I just spilled the beans on your age!) Fast forward to 1994 when I had my first child. I had so much more knowledge than my Mom, and I was awake during delivery. But I didn't know a thing about what would happen to my body after birth. Those giant pads the size of shoeboxes I was handed? WHOA! And the beating my bladder took during delivery came as a real shock. I can remember looking at my husband with horror a couple of weeks after delivery asking him if I smelled like subway station. Kind of mortifying. the birth lasts 12/24 maybe 48 hours. The recovery is weeks. New Moms should have more info.
